The Proposal

In the Boiling Isles, shortly after Luz's 18th birthday, Amity started getting ideas on how to advance her relationship with Luz... They've been dating for 4 years now, so she thought it was only natural as the next step to their future.

Amity had butterflies in her stomach. She didn't know what to say or how to say it. She kept writing down ideas on how to propose but none of them seemed good enough. The only person she could think to ask for advice was Eda, but she's busy... Oh! But Hunter and Willow have been engaged for a few months, so why not ask one of them? She thought Willow would be her best bet since Hunter is also usually busy and not even the one who proposed to begin with. So she went off to find Willow who was either training or at home taking care of her plants. So with her next objective in mind, she sets off to find Willow.

Amity first decides to check where the Emerald Entrails train, but the only members of the EE that are there is Skara and Viney. "Hey, Skara. Hey, Viney. What're you two up to?" she asks. Viney replies "Nothing, just talking about some cute animals we found the other day.. What's up?". "I came here looking for Willow. I had a question to ask her, but she must be at her place-" "Oh, I think she went to visit Hunter while he's carving Palismen. Maybe try there?" Skara interrupts. "Thanks, girls. I'll go check over there, then. Oh and don't forget to send me pics of those animals you're talking about!" and with that, she continued on to find Willow.

At the same time, Luz was on her way to the same place so she can see Hunter. Because unbeknownst to Amity, Luz has been feeling the same way. Of course, this time of day he is usually carving Palismen so she didn't need to go around looking for him as Amity needed to for Willow. So now Luz and Amity unknowingly head to the same destination.

Soon, Amity approaches the Palismen carving center and sees Dell. "Hi, Mr. Clawthorne! Is Willow here?" She asks. He replies "Hello, Amity. Yes, they should be in the other room. She just arrived not too long ago." Amity thanks Dell and pokes her head into the other room to see Willow watching Hunter carve while they talk about how their day's been. "Hey, Willow! I've been looking for you. You have a minute?" Amity motions for her to come outside. "Sure!"

She follows Amity outside and they start to walk for a bit together "What did you need to see me about?" She questions. Amity turns to Willow "I uh.. need some advice." "Advice about what?" "How to propose to someone?" She's blushing now and Willow is a bit shocked by the question. "You want to propose? And you came to me for advice? I'm so honored! Do you already have a place planned for it?" Amity nods in response and says "The Grom tree. I'm a little worried on what to say to her. I don't want to mess it up and sound dumb..." "You're worried about sounding dumb to the girl that said 'crikey' when you kissed?" Willow giggles. "Don't worry about it so much! I'm sure she'll love it either way as long as you speak from the heart. Tell her how you feel. Thinking about it so much will just make you worry even more." Willow reassures Amity with a pat on the shoulder. "Oh! Do you have a ring for the proposal?" She asks. "Yeah I bought one the other night. I hope she likes it." "I'm sure she will. Now go get ready, already! I'm gonna go check in with Hunter before heading back home to check on the garden. Text me how it goes! See you." And with that, Willow heads back to see Hunter and leaves Amity to go prepare for the big question.

While the two of them were talking however, moments after they left for their walk, Luz rushed into the Palismen carving center. "Hunter, we need to talk!" She exclaims as she bursts into the room. Hunter yelps due to having been caught off guard and spooked for a second. "Wh-What do you want to talk about?" He asks. "So, I wanna propose to Amity, but I don't know what to say. What did Willow say to you when she proposed?" Hunter is shocked by the straight-forward question but doesn't know what to say. "She didn't have to say much, but she said that after all we've been through and how long we've been together now, that she wanted to be with me a lot longer. And of course she wouldn't let me say no either way haha! She seemed pretty confident that night." Hunter reminisces while blushing. "So.. is that your way of telling me to be confident and just say what I gotta say to Amity? You're a genius! Thanks for the help Hunter!" Luz sprints off to get the ring and head to the Grom tree where she wants to propose.

Hunter continues to carve in peace until Willow walks back in. "Hunter! I have great news! So you know how Amity wanted to talk to me right?" She asks him. "Yeah." "Well turns out, she wanted proposal advice! From me! I feel so honored!" "Really? Luz just came in a bit ago and asked me about what you said to me when you proposed. Should we let them know that both of them are trying to propose or..?" He says. "Of course not! Don't wanna spoil the surprise for either of them. But we should definitely go congratulate them later tonight!"

Amity is sitting under the Grom tree and looking through her scroll. She's about to call Luz when she sees her run up to her- "Luz?!" "Amity?!" They yell. Amity asks "Willow didn't tell you I was coming here, did she?" "No. I was just... coming here to see the tree! Lots of memories here." She replies.

"Luz... I actually wanted to call you here because I umm... I have something to say." Luz blushes in response. "What is it, sweet potato?" Amity is blushing now too. "Well... we've been together for a while and... you always make me do stupid things- but it's fun and I love being around you and.. I know we're already a couple, but I don't know what our future holds and it would be so cool if you were in it. With me. More than we already are- So.." She gets on one knee and rummages through her bag to get the gold ring she bought for Luz and looks back up at Luz who already has a silver ring she bought for Amity held out in both of her hands as Luz asks "Do you want to marry me?" Amity blushes even harder. "I was so readyyy..." Amity pouts. "Sorry, what were you gonna say?" Amity pulls out the ring and... "Luz Noceda... Do you want to marry me?" "Yes!!" Luz shouts as she hugs Amity tight. "Sorry about interrupting, by the way. Couldn't let you get the drop on me like you did when I tried to ask you out back then." The two exchange rings and hold hands. "I was a bit scared to be honest. I didn't know what to say at first.." Amity explains "But I guess it was easier for me to say what I felt than I thought it would be." Luz giggles at how adorable her new fiancée sounded and they exchange rings and then kiss under the Grom tree as stars pass over...
