Felix's red hair shone in the sunbeams. His blue eyes expressed great emotion as he ran and ran from one side to the other, being chased by his friend Nahuel.
They were again in that vacant lot, which was only a few meters away from Felix's house. It is for this reason that he had permission to go out, in addition to the fact that the other children of the neighborhood played near there.
Felix's childhood took place in those times when you could go for a walk or play in the street without fear of something bad happening. All the neighbors knew each other, some were very close. They led a quiet life in southern Argentina.
Despite the fact that there were so many children nearby, Félix never went near them, because he already had his friend Nahuel, and others besides him. There was only one problem.
Aldana and Claudio, the redhead's parents, referred to Nahuel and the others as 'imaginary friends'. Felix had heard his parents calling his friends that way more than once. But he was still small, so he wasn't very clear about what that meant. What he did know was that his parents weren't able to see their friends. That was quite curious and sad at the same time.
Nahuel and his friends were part of a great circus. They were all very interesting.
The Golden Lion Circus was owned by the twin Sullivan brothers, talented magicians who always wore bright red suits accompanied by a top hat. Then there were their wives, Lydia and Melina, who were very good friends, as well as wonderful contortionists. There was also Latifa, a cheerful dancer of Arab origin, but she was not the only foreigner. Lorenzo and Ruggero were the funny clowns, the former being Spanish and the latter Italian. In addition to them were Jian and Mei, some impressive trapeze artists from China.
The youngest members were Lautaro and Nahuel, both sons of the Sullivans. Lautaro, Lydia's son, was the oldest and had joined his father and uncle's magic act. For his part, Nahuel, Melina's son, was 5 years old like Felix, and was a cute little clown who was part of Lorenzo and Ruggero's act.
But we haven't finished naming all the members yet.
A long, long time ago, circuses were allowed to keep animals. Thus, this particular circus was named after Atticus, the mighty lion.
Accompanying him were Bahir, a funny monkey who had come with Latifa, who sometimes danced and other times joined the pirouettes and tricks performed by the lion. The last members were Milo, a loving bunny, and Sasha, a daring dove, who of course, took part in magic acts.
All these people and animals were the protagonists of stories that Felix told his parents. They listened to him attentively, being amazed, since they believed that their son had a fairly active imagination.
Felix spoke emotionally about everything that Nahuel and the others told him. There were so many things to talk about! The games and pranks of the animals, the funny jokes of the clowns, the risky acts of trapeze and contortionism, the impossible magic tricks and Latifa's stupendous dance.
His parents always reacted very well when the little one arrived with a new story. That situation amused them a lot.
"Really? How amazing!" they exclaimed putting a big smile on the boy's face.
He always smiled, but the last time he told a story, his smile didn't last long.
When his parents were leaving the boy's room, his father said between laughs: "Every day he invents a better story." And Felix heard those words.
Although at first he didn't understand why his father had used the word invent, he decided it was best not to ask and just ignore it and forget.
But no matter how hard he tried, that doubt stayed there, and at some point it would have to be clarified.
I really love this story, I hope you like it too. Have a nice day! 🧡✨
