"Luke? Did you not got the message? I told you I needed to think"

"I got the message, literally and illiterally" He paused. "But I refuse to leave until you tell me what happened last night"

After last night I went home, well after driving around a bit. I needed to clear my head, not that it helped much. Luke had been texting me all morning and had decided that he'd turn up at my front door. He didn't fucking get it no matter what he said.

"Please, just go. I need to think"

"Maddie, what did I do?"

"Just-"

"Not until you tell me what happened between us"

"For fucks sake, Luke. You kissed me, alright?"

"Wait, what?" He stepped into my house and closed the door behind him.

"Come in" I mumbled.

"I think we need to talk" I followed him to my room and sat on the bed next to him but not half as close as we'd usually sit. "Tell me everything that happened"

"What's there to say, Luke? You got drunk and you came onto me"

"Maddie, in case you've forgot, we've had sex twice"

"What's your point?"

"I just don't get why you're so hung up on this"

"Because, Luke, I-" I cut myself off.

"You what, Maddie? Whatever it is tell me. Please"

"I just don't know how I feel anymore" It fell silent.

"It's not just you, ya know"

"What are you on about, Luke?"

"I mean, I don't know how I feel anymore either" It became silent again. "I'm sorry, Madison. About last night and today"

"It's OK. I overreacted"

"Yeah, you did a bit, but I love ya so it's all good"

"Watch it, Hemmings"

"Anyway, Calum and Kayli are still at my house. Wanna come over?"

"Sounds good. I need to find out what happened with them two anyway. They were looking pretty cosy when I left" I told him. "Let me just put some jeans on and we can go" He checked his phone whilst I quickly changed. It didn't bother me that Luke was in the room. He'd seen me half naked too many times to count.

"Hey, you're back" Calum said to Luke as we walked into the living room.

"There you are. I thought you were staying last night?" Kayli asked.

"Yeah, things didn't go too great"

"What happened?" She asked, pulling me onto one sofa whilst Calum and Luke sat on the other.

"Nothing you need to worry about, it's all sorted now" I said, looking over at Luke to see him in deep conversation with Calum.

"Good. You and Luke cannot fall out" I rolled my eyes at her comment.

"So, what happened with you and Cal?"

"He asked me out. We're going on a date tomorrow"

"Good to see my hard work paying off"

"And mine" Luke said, joining the conversation.

"You put in 20%, I did like 80% of the work"

"I still had my part"

"You guys are like an old married couple" Calum remarked. Luke and I both ignored the comment.

"So, Cal, did you ask Kayli to prom yet?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Subtle there, Mads. And no, well, not yet anyway" He said, winking at Kayli.

"As long as you do" I said.

"Are you guys ready for the big game next Saturday?" Kayli asked, diverting the topic from her and Calum. Cayli? No. Kalum? For fucks sake, their names are too similar.

"Yeah, coach has made us do so many drills and games. We're definitely ready physically just not mentally" Luke said and Calum nodded in agreement.

"It'll be the biggest game we've ever played. I hope we win"

"You will, you're the best team in our district"

"Yeah but-"

"No buts! You two are the best players on that team and you know it so you're gonna go out there next Saturday and kick those Bulldogs butts" Kayli said.

"Wow, tough love. You've got a fiesty one their Cal" Luke said.

"Yeah but she's pretty great so I look past it"

"Yeah, I am" Kayli said, resting her feet on the coffee table. Calum rolled his eyes, smirking lightly. I'm so lucky to have friends like them.
