"Guys, we've got an assembly" Calum said as he arrived at Luke's locker.

"What about?"

"Rules or some shit"

"Language, Hood" Mrs Cane said as she walked past us.

"God, Calum" I said and he shoved me lightly as we walked towards the gym. When we got to the gym we saw the bleachers half full. We sat in a middle row with Kyle and Josh sat in front of us. Coach Williams came in and looked over at us, he gave a small nod to Luke.

"Luke, do you know what's going on?"

"Possibly"

"Luke-"

"Mads, it's fine" More and more people started to arrive until everyone was here. Or so we hoped.

"We'd just like to say that some of the rules have been going unnoticed lately" Mr Tate said. He was deputy head and I'm pretty sure the most hated teacher known to this school. You know Miss Briggs from iCarly? It's her in a male form. "We need to make sure that rules are obeyed. As you know a rule known to this school for over 30 years was broken recently and consequences were given as usual by the students. In the last few days we have been informed of another case of the same rule being broken" He continued for a good 10 minutes before dismissing us. "Cheerleaders please stay behind, everyone else may leave"

"Thank god for that" Calum said as we stood up to leave and started to walk down the steps.

"Miss Williams, please stay" Confused, I turned and walked back up to my seat.

"What the hell is going on?" I heard Kayli ask quietly as I sat back down.

"Good question, Miss Jones"

"What is this?" I whispered, resting my head on my hands and my elbows on my knees. I looked over at my former friends and squad. I noticed that Chelsea, Katie and Ashley were sat by themselves at the front. Everyone was so divided.

"For reasons that cannot be disclosed, Chelsea, Katie and Ashley have decided to leave the squad" I raised my hand. "Yes, Madison?"

"What does this have to do with me?"

"That was my next point. As deputy head cheerleader, Kayli has decided, with some help from Maya and Jenny, that you are to become head cheerleader"

"Seriously?" I asked along with someone else. I looked forward to see Chelsea stood up.

"I did not leave this squad for her to become the head of it"

"I think it may be too late for a change of heart" Mr Tate said and left the room along with Chelsea and her followers. I walked down the steps and joined the rest of the squad who had already walked down to the front.

"Glad to have you back, Maddie"

"You guys aren't mad after everything that's happened?"

"Nah, we're over it. Anyway, the football guys don't seem so bad after" They said as we started to walk out of the gym.

"They're great"

"So, we need to sort out new members. We need at least two more" Maya said and we agreed.

"Uh, I've got to go. Come sit with the guys and I at lunch?"

"Maddie, the rule's still there. You realise it's the same again, right?"

"I'm going to talk to him, no matter what. OK?"

"Hey, what happened?" Luke asked as I walked over to him and Calum.

"Not much really"

"Then why were you talking to them?"

"Because you're looking at the new head cheerleader"

"Not much? Not fucking much?" Calum said, shaking my shoulders.

"That's great, Maddie" Luke hugged me and kissed my forehead.

"There's one problem though. I can't sit with you again and I'm going to be a lot busier"

"Don't worry. Things are going to be different this time round" Luke told me before walking off with Calum to class as the bell rang.
