"I'll be right back" I spoke, leaving with Sally asleep in my arms, I was scared of my true form, though technically it is part of me, I'm not exactly in control of that form. A memory popped up, the first time I had met Atlas or Allio as I knew him.
~flashback~ Stalking around, I was looking for my next prey, when I heard a child yell, "I fucking hate you! I wish you never met dad!" followed by a slam of a door. I went to where I had heard the yell, and as I got closer, I could hear crying, I walked slowly towards the kid. Crouching down in front of them, I asked "what happened?" not sure whether or not to touch the crying child. He looked up at me, I was expecting fear to be their reaction but all I got was amazement. They launched themselves into my arms, holding them hesitantly "I was called useless, even though I do basically everything in the house, including cooking from time to time." The child told me. ~flashback ends~
Shaking my head as it ended, I walked back into the room where most still were.
Looking around I spotted Atlas basically in EJ's lap, going straight to them I sat next to EJ. "Oh, hey Ryker" he said, nodding I asked, "how come Atlas is practically in your lap?" Masky answered instead of EJ "he doesn't sleep much, he's waiting for someone to return" he paused glancing at Atlas, "we're not sure if he'll come back this time, he tends to go on the more dangerous missions, and alone" he finished quietly. Atlas stirred and sat up looking around and landing on me, "How long have you been here?" he asked yawning, "not long, but if your still tired why don't you go back to sleep?" I replied, he sat in my lap falling back to sleep. I was still in my half form, so I used a wing to drag EJ over and motioned to Masky to come over as well, while I had Atlas in my lap EJ talking and Masky on the opposite side leaning on me half awake. "Well yeah I've been alive before slender and practically raised him and taught him every-" I stopped speaking when I felt someone touch my wing from behind me. I looked behind me moving my wings away from them, I saw Jeff standing there, "uhm sorry, didn't mean to startle or make you uncomfortable" he quickly spoke, relaxing I continued "I taught him everything he knows now, I stayed with him for a few centuries but then left to go take care of human children" I stopped there to avoid the fact I had been to soo many funerals.
~the flashback like i said in the last chapter, is a bit of a peek in Atlas's backstory (my character), he doesn't speak about it at all. Atlas also likes to be held by someone when he's sleeping because otherwise, he doesn't feel safe, he's tried to get past it, but he hasn't managed quite yet. later on, there will be a chapter called ^Shut Up and Go to Sleep^ of which where it will show that. bye for now creatures~
