"Damn, holy Jesus!" exclaimed Will as I signaled for him to lower his volume, bringing my head closer to him.

"Don't speak so loud, you're not supposed to know!" I whispered to him as he nodded.

"Still, Lucy. Special operations are everyone's fucking dream...! And probably the best salary!"

My eyes widened.

Wait, everyone's "dream"?

As I packed the rest of my stuff, including my notebook, in the box, I finally gave in to curiosity.

"Do you think there are good agents over there?" I ended up asking as he crossed his arms, giving me a puzzled look.

"Are you kidding? It's the best place to run into the best, chilling with a coffee in hand!"

I had a strange feeling.

Does that mean...?

I shook my head.

No, Lucia, don't think you'll meet him again soon...

I snapped out of my thoughts as I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Will asked as I slowly nodded my head.

I let my hair down and looked at it for a moment, while the strange feeling came back to my mind.

I glanced at Will, who seemed to be following me with his eyes as I got ready to leave.

"Will? Aren't you done with your day too?" I asked him as I pointed to the clock with my finger. He quickly got up from his chair, as if his mind was also somewhere else.

"Ah shit, you're right! Give me two seconds." He quickly replied as he grabbed his coat and hurried to turn off his computer.

Meanwhile, I just put on my coat and fixed my hair a bit, a satisfied smile on my lips.

If I had known that my natural color suited me so well... I would never have touched it.

"You have to drop that off first, right?" Will finally asked as he pointed to the cardboard box with his head, to which I nodded.

As I took the box in my arms and started walking, Will made a gesture to take it, which I deliberately ignored.

As we continued to walk for a few minutes in the government agency, I saw several signs indicating the direction of special operations along the way.

Will and I exchanged a look, having decided to pursue the same goal.

We calmly followed the direction indicated by the signs until we came across a door that seemed to require either a code or a ring.

"Darn... The supervisor didn't tell me about the door..." I sighed as I put the cardboard box at my feet, bringing my head close to one of the tinted windows to try to look inside.

I looked at Will who seemed to be thinking about the question too.

"It's not smart to have you come here without even giving you the code..." he began to complain as the door suddenly opened, with a woman whose face I didn't know on the other side.

She had brown hair tied in a high ponytail, the type of face that tends to be looked at several times because of its very distinct features, and wore a white shirt with tailored pants and sneakers.

She was a bit like the heroines in crime dramas.

"Who are you?" she quickly asked as I blinked several times, surprised.

"My name is Lucy Castle! I was just transferred here, and uh..." I started to mumble as I felt my cheeks turning red when I saw her smile at me.

God, she's gorgeous...

"Agent Knight. And yes, we just found out too! Do you want me to drop off your stuff for you? You can come back tomorrow when you're less... Accompanied." she hinted as she glanced slightly at Will.

I pouted.

"I would like that, but... I wasn't given the code for the door..." I replied as she raised her eyebrows.

"That's not normal..." she said calmly as she continued to smile at me.

There followed a silence where Will went on a quest for coffee while the woman and I were looking at each other.

Am I hallucinating or is the atmosphere hella confusing?

As I nervously crossed my hands, she tapped her fist on her hand.

"Well. Would you mind waiting two seconds? I'm going to see if I can do something for you," she added as she closed the door under my amazed gaze.

This is not even the same level...

I turned to Will, who seemed a bit confused as he looked back and forth between the door and me.

"You sure you were transferred here...?" he finally asked as I nodded once again, trying to repress the sudden doubt that had arisen.

Suddenly, the door opened again, and the woman reappeared.

"Everything's good! I'll take your box and drop it off inside!" she announced as I gave her my box, which she put at her feet before taking out a folded post-it note from her pocket.

"Take this! I've noted everything you need inside. See you tomorrow!" she exclaimed as she closed the door in front of our petrified faces.

I looked at Will for a moment, a little confused.

"Well... She seems nice!" was the only thing he could say as I felt like I had entered an impossible quagmire.

Between working in report archives and special operations, it's not a staircase but a complete elevator!

As I nervously scratched my neck, I put my purse back on my shoulder, sighing shortly after we got back on the road.

"By the way, what do you want to eat tonight?" Will finally asked before we left the hallway, which made me stop in my tracks.

I looked into space for a moment, trying to think as seriously as possible as I went through the catalog of nearby restaurants in my mind.

"I have to admit that right now I don't have any preferences..." I finally replied as we started walking again.

As we left the agency, the rain started to pour down on us unexpectedly as we took shelter under the parking shelters.

"There's a pretty good sushi place nearby, do you want to try it?" he asked as I frowned.

Especially since the last time I had agreed to eat it with Kyle even though I hate fish.

I ended up nervously laughing at the thought of showing my traumatized fish side to one of my colleagues and recent friend.

I shook my head in refusal.

"No... I have to admit that right now, especially with this weather, I'd prefer to have a hot dish, haha." I replied as he seemed to think about the question too.

"Well, if you want something that warms you up there are always bars open, but I'm not sure you'll make a good impression tomorrow if show up with a hangover..." he hinted as I started laughing.

"No, forget it!! I'm sick of alcohol, I never hold it down!" I laughed as I tapped him on the shoulder, which made us laugh even more.
