Pilot

I look at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes are cloudy and my hairs a mess. I splash water on my face. I run a hand through my hair. I start smiling and then I stop. "Vi!" I hear Ronnie shout. "Just a minute!" I fix my hair and put some concealer under my eyes to huff the bags.

I walk out the bathroom. "We have to ask Daddy if our friends can come over." "Right. Sorry, I spaced." we see Mom on her way to his study. "I can take that to Papi." "We wanted to ask him something anyway." She adds. I take the cup from her hands. "Your father and I have business to discuss and you know the rules about his study." She states.

"Mom those are the old rules." "Which still apply Veronica." She states. "Was that before or after he got arrested?" I ask. Before she can answer Papi comes out. "I thought I heard my three palomitas out here chirping." He states. We turn to him. "Is that my café con leche? Thank you corazón." He says as she hands it to him.

"Daddy, tonight the season premiere of The Machlerette and we would love to have our friends over to watch." "Who exactly are these friends?" He asks. "Inner Circle only. Excluding Ian." She says the last part a bit annoyed.

He hums. "You can watch with us they're dying to meet you." "Of course, they can come over mija." "Thank you, Daddy." She hugs him and kisses his cheek.

I hug him and he kisses my forehead.

I sit in the common room listening to Kevin talk about what happened to Midge and Moose in the woods. "It was full on Carrie. Midge covered in Moose's blood screaming like a banshee. It was insane." He states. "Kev what are you even doing out there? You could've been shot too." Archie asks as he enters the room.

"I was just night jogging you know as one does..." I look at Betty and she looks at me with the same face. "As one does and suddenly I hear gunshots." "Can we at least agree now that there's s killer on the loose?" Archie asks still on edge from the shooting of his father. "With terrible aim." "Honestly how do you miss twice? There were like 3 to 5 feet in front of you." I add.

"Jughead. Vi, he murdered Ms. Grundy." "You mean Ms. Pedophile?" Jughead gives me a fist bump. "Archie we don't know that these three crimes are related." "Guys, can we focus on what matters here? Midge and Moose are alive. Archie's dad survived. The new season of The Matchlerette starts tonight. And you're all coming over to watch." My sister states.

"There's a shooter terrorizing our town and you really want us to watch a gross reality dating show?" "Can he shoot me next?" I ask. "Vi!" I roll my eyes. "What we really want is for you guys to meet my dad officially. Back in New York, my dad was always in his study. Doing very bad things as it turns out. I'm tired of closed doors. I need to know my dad's life and he needs to know mine." She states. "Well we'll be there V." "Thank you."

"Hey, Andrews we're going to the hospital to see Moose." I see my boyfriend behind them. He doesn't even look at me. I get up and walk up to him. "Hey, you're still coming to mine after school right?" "I don't wanna watch some stupid dating show. Can we do something else at mine?" He says touching my cheek. My stomach turns.

"I really want you to meet my dad." "Isn't he like a bad person?" He asks. "He's changed. You're coming right?" I ask. "Ya." "Promise?" "Ya, whatever." He kisses my cheek. "I gotta go."

I sigh heavily. I see Kevin walk out. Yes, distraction. "Yo Kev." "It's just us now. Night jogging?" Betty asks. "Yeah. I'm trying to get in shape for wrestling." "5 and 15 are two different numbers," I state. "Fine. I was just cruising Fox Forest. But I am going out for wrestling and I did tell my dad I was jogging." He states. "And he believed you!" "Yeah because he wants to believe me."

"Dude I get it breakups are hard granted I've only ever been in one but cruising? How do you say STD or psycho?!" I state. "Come on Kev. You know I hate that. Why can't you use Grind'em like every other gay guy in the world?" "Because nobody's who they are online. At least in real life what you see is what you get there's no surprises." He states. "Moose and Midge were shot literally 300 years from Fox Forest and the person who did it is still out there. Tell me you won't go back there at least not until he's caught." Betty states. "Okay, I will not go back. Scouts honor." "If you do I'll kick your ass!" I say as they walk away.

My face falls. I start thinking about what Kev said about being gay. My mind trails back to prom night. With me and another girl student. She kissed me. And I liked it.

I lean my head against the locker. I squeeze my eyes and inhale sharply. Stop you're not gay. You can't be gay. You have a boyfriend.

The bell rings and pulls me out of my thoughts.

After school, I walk to the southside. I go to the White Wyrm and look for the guy. He's talking to his friends. I go up to him. "I need something." He looks at me. He smirks. "Hey, princess. I'll catch you, boys, later." They walk off. "Step into my office." I go through the curtain and sit in a room.

He goes in a drawer and pulls out something. "What's that?" I ask. "Jingle Jangle it's new. It sends you to a whole new world. I'll give you a taste if you like?" He says with a grin. I nod. He tilts my head back and pours the dust in my mouth.

It pops in my mouth and dissolves. I gasp as it takes effect.

I get home and shut the door. I see my friends on the couch. "Hey, guys." I greet. "Hey sorry Vi he bailed something about wanting to check on Moose." "It's 8 visiting hours end of 7:30," I state. They don't say anything. "Know what it's fine. You guys have fun." "Violet no stay," Ronnie says reaching for my hand. "It's about star-" "Ronnie!" Her eyes wide. "I'm tired can I please just go to bed?" I ask. "Ya. Ya, night."

I walk to my room. "Mija everything alright?" I go into my room and slam the door.
