Chapter 2 - The Cadets

(Melody is 17, almost 18)

"AND YOU, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!" Damn this guy is ugly. His breath smells bad too.
"Melody Saki from Shiganshina, sir!"
"And what the hell are you doing here?!"
"I want to join the scouts, and kill the titans to reclaim the land that we've lost!"
I get a bunch of looks from people when I say this of course. Not like they could do it.
"And what makes you think you can survive the titans, Saki?!"
My blank look changes to a more determined look.
"Because i'm strong. I know I can do it."
His eyes widen to this response, seeing that I was clearly serious about what I was saying. Though his face quickly returns to that old angry look.
"Yeah sure, we'll see how long you survive with those man eating monsters."
Man eating monsters. He doesn't even know he was looking directly at one.

He continues to go around, screaming at people for there names, home, or things that they say. One dude even got head butted right in the forehead. It was pretty funny, not gonna lie. After a long while, we got to our rooms to settle in and unpack our stuff. At least I was in a room with someone I know. Mikasa.

It was already dinner, and I sat with Eren, Armin and Mikasa. The food was pretty bland, honestly. A bunch of people came questioning us since we were from Shiganshina. Saying rumours and things that they thought happened. I knew that I didn't want to talk about it at all. But they finally got Eren to budge. He said shit about killing them all, yada-yada. I wasn't even listening. But then things got interesting when some guy that kind of looked like a horse suddenly called Eren a 'suicidal maniac'. They ended up fighting, physically. I got tired of all the loud noise and decided to leave and go to the rooms. I sat on my bed and drew some pictures of today's events in my sketchbook. One of the girls randomly popped up at my shoulder, watching me draw. "Watcha doing?" She said out of nowhere.
"Ah! Where the hell did you come from?!"

"Oh, sorry to scare you hehe.. Im Sasha by the way! Sasha Braus!" She introduces herself with a smile.
"Oh, it's nice to meet you Sasha, im Melody." I say with a gentle smile, putting my hand out for her to shake.
She smiles and shakes my hand my hand.

"So, watcha drawing?" She peaks again over my shoulder, looking over at my sketchbook.
"Oh, um, just some things that happened today. I like to draw memories and keep them all in here." I say with a nervous smile.
"Cool!" She was so chill about everything, it made me feel a little less nervous.
She watched me draw for a while, until all the girls came in the room at around the same time.

The girls started questioning about me living in Shiganshina. Like what happened, was the titan scary and stuff like that. I mean, are they fucking stupid or what? Of course it was scary. I wasn't very happy with all the questions. They were getting a little personal. Too personal.

"Did you have anyone you knew die?" One of them asked. My eyes widen and I stare to the ground.
"Hey, that's enough. Leave her alone." Mikasa says. She's been watching my expression for a while, making sure I was okay with their questions. They apologized for the questions and felt bad.
"It's fine, you didn't know." I said with a smile.

It's not fine. Why would you ask something like that?!

Training has been pretty easy, to say the least. I mean, I only speak for myself. Some people have been struggling alot. This is like asking me to wash the dishes. With the help of my aunt, she has taught me alot of fighting techniques. I guess years of training really paid off.

We were doing hand to hand combat. I was paired up with Annie. She's pretty strong, so let's see how this turns out. We begin the fight, and she has some pretty good moves. She definitely knows what she's doing. At the right time, I grab her fist, twist it around her back, while kicking her legs with much force so much that she falls. I pin her down on her stomach with her arms behind her back.
"Looks like I won." I say with a smile. Her expression doesn't change. She seems a little annoyed, but she tries her best to hide it. Keith Shadis clearly sees that we are done, and walks over to us. "Already done?" He says with an annoying tone. We both nod in response. He sighs and switches us with some other people. I got put with some random dude that looked confident. He thought that because I was a girl I was weak. An easy punch and he was down with his nose bleeding. Keith Shadis, again sees me done already, and dismisses me since I was just gonna finish quickly no matter what.
