Ayani, Nell's cousin.
Same time of day.
Somewhere.

"JJ please. As much as I love you I can't do this shit anymore. Can I please just call my cousin, or my mom at least to let them know i'm okay." I beg.

I haven't talked to anyone in, i don't even know how long anymore.

"For fucking what Ayani. So you can say to come save you? Ain't shit to even save you from, you like getting mouthy and I don't fuck with that. Deal with the consequences." He said as he leaned back while messing around on his phone.

"What the fuck are you talking about? The quote consequences are deadass borderline abuse, just let me fucking go home."

He stood up and walked over to me and grabbed my face. "Look, don't nobody got time for none of your bullshit. T up and be quiet. Damn." he said as he shoved me back.

He made his way to the hotel bathroom, he finally made the mistake of shutting the bathroom door.

I went to his bag and grabbed my phone and ran out. I was making my way to the hotel elevator but I could see him running towards me which means he heard the door.

The elevator was taking forever to open. The closer he got the more my anxiety went up.

The elevator finally opened but it wasn't closing fast enough. Luckily someone got in with me, so he wouldn't be able to say anything. The elevator was slowly closing and right before he could make his way in we were already heading down to the entrance floor.

I have no doubt that he was taking the stairs which is why I went to the second floor first, and looked for someone so I could ask for help.

There was this girl who was working, she had a mini fro and you could see her neck tats. I walked up to her.

"Hey could you help me out? I came here with a dude but he's become really aggressive and I need to get out of here.." I said feeling paranoid that he was gonna show up any minute.

"Yeah come with me" she said as she lead me downstairs to the break room.

She gave me her phone so I could make a call. I called Nell and she picked up immediately.

Ayani: "it's ayani, bro I need help. you know JJ emina's brother? he drove me out to this fucking hotel and it turns out he's borderline abusive. I finally got a phone so I could call."

Nell: "man what the fuck, can you find out where you're at?"

Ayani: "I'll ask around for a charger so I can charge my phone and i'll send you my lo."

Nell: "Please stay safe and be as fast as you can, i'll be over there as soon as possible."

Ayani: "Alright."

"Do you have a charger I can use?" and I right as I asked, she pulled her charger out. "Thank you so much, by the way what's your name?"

"It's Rae" she replied as she stood up. "I'm gonna make sure no one comes in here so you can have some time for yourself"

"Thank you so much" I said I put my phone on the charger.

Kaiya.
Hospital.

"I guess i'm gonna have to go. Ayani just called me talking bout Emina's brother done got her in a fucked up situation and she don't feel safe. Can somebody stay here with Emina tonight? I gotta go" she explained right as her phone went off.

"I got you don't worry" I said as she hurriedly walked out. "That's so scary what the fuck" Kay said looking worried.

"It is, I'm pretty sure he put his ex through some similar shit" I said as I shook my head.

"He's sick" Kay said. "On god, but you don't gotta stay here, I don't have much else to do today so I'll sit and wait. I'll let you guys when she wakes up."

"Alright, don't hesitate to call me" she said as she walked out of the room.

Now it was just me and emina.

I walked over to the chair next to her bed and sat down.

I don't know why but I felt like this was partially my fault.

To distract myself I got on my phone and played around for a bit.

After about 30 minutes, the beeping on the monitor started to speed up and emina kept furring her brows in her sleep.

I immediately ran out to call a doctor in to check on her and they made me sit out in the waiting room, which made me feel like something is seriously wrong.

I texted Kay and told her what was going on. I told her we should wait until Nell gets back to tell her anything because she's already in a stressful situation.

The doctor called me back over and said her body temperature had began to drop and that her frontal lobe had almost shut down.

They're gonna have to keep her here another day in case something goes wrong. He insisted I go home but I refused to go.

Later that evening.
Nell.

"Imma see if you if you can stay with Kay or Kaiya until this shut gets sorted out, it ain't safe for you to go home." I said as I drove us up into the hospital parking lot.

"I agree and thank you for getting me." ayani said followed by a long deep breath.

"It's no problem at all, imma always be here for you. We gotta start talking more like we used so we can avoid situations like this."

I said as we both started getting out the car. "For sure."

We made our way to emani's hospital room and Kaiya immediately shot up. "Is she okay? Are you okay?" she said sounding worried.

"I'm perfectly fine but what about her?" ayani said as she looked at emina.

"Speaking of, earlier her heart rate went up and her temperature dropped. The doctor said her frontal lobe was close to shutting down.." Kaiya said sounding like she was trying not to cry.

"So it's worse than we thought." I replied as I felt my palms getting clammy. I walked over to her and felt her forehead with the back of my hand. "she really is cold" i said sounding a little surprised,

"Oh and kaiya do you think ayani could stay with you for 2 days? I don't want her by herself right now, it's not safe."

" Of course. Since you're here we'll head out now." she replied

"Bye Nell" they both said at the same time.

After they walked out, I sat on the small couch in the hospital room. I was being eaten by my thoughts and eventually dozed off.
