*A couple of hours before Zosia and Tay arrive for dinner*
"Rrrrrraaaaagh!" Phil hears Dan yell. He's been listening to Dan yell or throw something periodically for about half an hour. Phil gets up from the sofa with a sigh to go inspect Dan and see what he's doing. When he reaches Dan's opened bedroom door, his eyes widen in surprise. It appears that every article of clothing Dan owns is now strewn all over the floor, the bed, and the desk chair. Dan, who is currently shirtless, is muttering to himself as he riffles through a pile of shirts on his bed. Phil's not surprised by Dan being shirtless nor him muttering to himself (he's seen both plenty of times) but he's surprised about the clothes being strewn all over everything. Surprised and confused.
"Umm....Dan?" Phil says, frowning. Dan jerks his head up and covers his bare torso with his arms.
"What?" Dan asks sharply.
"What are you doing?"
"What's it look like I'm doing? I'm trying to find something to fucking wear! And I can't find my black shirt with the eclipse on it."
"It's in the dryer, Dan."
"No it's not! I looked."
"Well, go look again because I distinctly remember washing it yesterday."
"Shut up!" Dan yells as he pushes past Phil and heads to the laundry room.
"Why are you so worried about what you're wearing?" Phil asks, though he thinks he already knows the answer to that question.
"I'm not!" Dan says, half his upper body stuck in the dryer as he looks for his shirt.
"Could've fooled me," Phil says, smirking.
Dan finds his shirt and comes out of the dryer with a glare pasted on his face. He yanks his shirt on and stomps back to his bedroom.
"It's because Zosia's coming over, isn't it?" Phil asks, trailing after Dan.
"No." Dan says a little too quickly.
"You so totally have a crush on her. Like, a really big crush."
"I'm really quite certain I've no idea what you're talking about," Dan replies as he goes over to his mirror to make sure every piece of hair is straightened and not curly. You know, 'cos his Hobbit hair totally isn't adorable.
"Come on, Danny, you know you have a huge crush on Zosia."
"All right, fine! Maybe I do have a crush on her. So what? It's not like I can tell her I do and it's not like we're ever going to be an item. She's dating that asshole who probably goes to the gym every day and lifts weights the size of me. It's not fair, Phil!"
The last part comes out as a whine. Dan's face is all scrunched up and he looks like he's on the verge of crying. Phil goes over to his friend to offer some comfort and possibly even a shoulder to cry on.
"Like you said the other day, maybe they'll break up." Phil says as he rubs Dan's arm.
"No they won't! They'll probably tell us they're engaged when they come to dinner tonight. I don't think I'll be able to stand it if they do, Phil, I really don't think I will."
Dan's silent for a few seconds and then he yells, "WHAT AM I GOING TO MAKE FOR DINNER?"
Phil jumps at Dan's sudden outburst and takes a step back. "We've got some pasta and sauce in the cabinet."
"But what if they have some sort of allergy to pasta? Zo didn't say she did, though. I guess I'll text her just to make sure."
Dan takes his phone and types a text to Zosia, who replies instantly.
"Neither one of them have an allergy to pasta," Dan says, staring at his phone.
"Good," Phil says, smiling. "I'll pop down to the shops and go get some Italian bread. You, on the other hand, will be staying here and clean up this mess you made."
Dan glares and a string of cuss words fly out of his mouth. Phil turns around, smirking, and leaves a grumbling Dan to clean up.
