I walked in the room of clothes I designed. It was mostly old winter clothes that we keep. I walked in the back to see Camilla crying her eyes out. "What's wrong?" I asked.
She wiped her tears and looked up at me. "Johnny was stabbed to death in a gang fight in the prison yard."
I kneeled down to her level and pull her in for a hug. "I'm sorry to hear." I rubbed her back. "Take the day off."
She pulled away. "I can't, I've taken so many days off."
I sighed. "Camilla, your brother just died. Take the day off and recollect your self."
She nod. "Okay, thank you so much." She hugged me before getting up and wiping her face. "I owe you so much."
I waved the sentence off. "Don't worry about it. Just feel better."
She nod. "I will, thank you again." she walked out the room leaving me to myself.
I walked out the room and back to my office to grab my purse and keys. "Channel, I'll be back." I said as I walked to the elevators.
****************
I knocked on his door six times before he answered it. "What are you doing here?" He said while rubbing his eyes.
"Oh I'm sorry, did I wake you?" I walked inside and set my purse on the couch.
"Yes, you did."
"Did you take your medicine?"
He sighed. "Nia, why are you here?"
I huffed and turn to him. "I need advice father." I plopped on the couch. He sat next to me and turned off the tv. A force of habit he have every time he takes a nap.
"The last time you showed up on my door step, you was getting married to this thug boy."
I nod. "I know. I divorced him."
"Finally." he mumbled. "And now you're pregnant, with his child."
I put my hand on my stomach. "Yes. He's threatening me and my boyfriend."
"Who's your boyfriend? What's his name?"
"Mathew, its Mathew."
He leaned back. "Childhood friend Mathew?"
I nod. "Yes."
He chuckled. "Your mother was right. So the ex-husband, he wants to kill Mathew?"
I nod. "Yes, I'm scared daddy. What should I do?" I leaned on his shoulder.
"Don't be." he rubbed my arm. "Do you think the thug boy is serious?"
I nod. "Yes." I looked up at him.
My father sighed. "Let me tell you something, that I would never tell anyone else."
I sat up to look at him. My father rubbed his eyes before speaking. "The real reason why your mother and I broke up is because we was in the same situation that you're in. But I'm actually y'all father and my ex was the one making threats. When Marcus was born, it wasn't major. Maybe a few scratches on my mustang, but nothing life threatening. When you was born, it was late night calls and popping up out of no where. Your mother was worried, but of course I shrugged it off. A year after Anna was born, my ex started to show up at our house." He paused and looked down at his hands."What happened?" I asked.
"My ex showed up at our house late at night, and took Anna and you. We haven't even noticed until it was too late. It took us two days to find the both of you. The whole time during and after the accident, me and your mother started to have disagreements. Your mother was scared just like you are right now. Me and your mother loved each other, but at the time the only way to get my ex off our backs without killing her of course was to-"
