NEW YORK CITY
OCTOBER 2022

Sofía had been stuck in the studio ever since her album announcement. The final mixing sessions had taken up all her time that she barely had time to call her parents, let alone Luca or any of her friends. But it was all worth it, it finally felt like all of it was paying off for her. She just had to hope and pray that the world would appreciate it in the same way she does.

Carlos hadn't tried to reach her again since her announcement party, but that didn't mean he wasn't plaguing her every thought. And it was stringing along every drop of guilt and yearning in her being, she knew she wasn't being fair to Luca but she also knew she wasn't being fair with herself.

But those were the kinds of thoughts Sofía had been trying to avoid since that night.

It was currently almost eleven in the morning and Sofía had already been in the studio for an hour, by her lonesome as she continued to sift and mic through the final song selections for her album. It had felt weird for her, knowing her work was finally being put out into the world after four years of trying everything to get there.

She had been three hours deep into the mixes when her phone rang, vibrating against the console. Releasing a heavy sigh, she pauses the song currently playing through the speakers and picks up her phone, only to find Claudia's contact staring back at her.

"Where the hell are you?" the blonde exclaims as soon as the call connects, not even giving Sofía a chance to say hello. "I just passed by your apartment and you weren't there."

"Same place I have been for the past month, Claud." Sofía replies bluntly, placing her phone on speaker and turning her attention back to the track list in front of her— she still needed to figure out if she was doing a deluxe or not.

Claudia goes silent for a moment, and the Spaniard thought she had hung up. "Did you actually forget?"

Sofías eyebrows furrow. "Forget what?"

"It's girls night!"

Her palm immediately comes up to her forehead, she had completely forgotten her plans with Claudia that night. Mind too caught up in this stupid love triangle she had found herself in, and her album that she hadn't even notice it slip past her.

Claudia had been her closest friend ever since she started in the industry. They met when Sofía was called in to help with the writing process of Claudia's first album, they've been friends ever since then. Which is also why they haven't been able to see each other much lately; with Claudia away at races most weekends and Sofía knee deep in her music.

"Are you at Electric Lady?" the blonde questions with a sigh, the sound of her car door shutting in the background.

"Yeah." Sofía replies, "C, I'm so so sorry. I lost track of time and—"

"It's fine, Sof."Claudia lightly giggles, her voice sound slightly further away now as her phone connects to the bluetooth in her car. "Just finish up whatever you're doing, I'm on my way."

Sofía only had two more songs to finish up before she could officially hand in the finished product to her label; taking traffic into account, it would take Claudia at least forty-five minutes to get here. She knew if she could put her mind to it, she could get it all done. And Claudia would probably come up anyway and she could show her.
