"Are you sure you didn't misplace them?"
Lucy paces around the parking lot as she bites her nails
"Of course not Daniel.. I just can't understand how someone even got in my office without anyone seeing.."
"Daniel I'm sorry but I'm going to have to stay back and investigate, you're going to have to stay here with me, okay?"
Daniel sighs but nods
"I'll stay in the car."
Lucy tosses him the car keys and runs back in the station, why would anyone want to steal papers?.. Daniel knows his mother keeps secrets about the day he showed up, Nobody will tell him anything.. maybe if he remembered..
"Ah-" he grabs in head in pain and rolls back the car seat to take a breather. Every time he tried to remember he can't, it's like his brain rejects the idea of his life before the age of 10.
Two taps are heard outside the car window, Daniel shakes it off thinking he's imagining it, then two more taps.
"Hellooooo?"
Daniel opens his eyes and rolls down his window.
"I thought you left?"
It's the dark haired girl from earlier, Now that Daniel could get a good look at her she seems...interesting?.. her hair is straight and long, her clothes are oversized and barley fit her and she smells like the forest and rain.
"I forgot something at the office" she lets out a soft sigh before glances at the office and back at him
"Now isn't a good time, The Chief found out some of her papers are missing and she's turning the whole place upside down."
"She's going to flip the building over?" The girl tilts her head in confusion
"What?" Daniel snorts but soon realizes she's being serious. Does she not understand metaphors?
"No it's a metaphor. It means she's making a big mess in the office."
"Metaphor.. oh yeah I get it now.." she smiles but it's clear she doesn't quite get it yet
"Never mind"
"Ok."
She shuffles around a bit before untimely deciding to head back, she waves and Daniel rolls the window back up. What a weird girl...

Knocking can be heard once more, this time it's Lucy. Daniel unlocks the car and checks his phone..
"It's 3:40 am.." he glances at Lucy then back at his phone
"Did you find the documents..?"
"....." Lucy starts the car and begins driving
"Mom..? Is everything okay..?" He reaches his hand out and glances at the road ahead, a tall, skinny, hunched over man stands in the middle of the road, he grabs the gear shift and pulls it causing the car to spin as they stop abruptly
"DANIEL WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR ISSUE?" Lucy slaps his hand from the gear and looks at him pissed. She sees Daniels body shaking and her anger quickly drops
"Daniel? Daniel.. what's wrong?"
His whole body is shaking and his throat feels like it's closing in on him.. does she not see the man? He grabs his throat and begins gasping for air, all the talking his mother was doing begins drowning out. The figure begins walking towards Daniel, limping with every step, the bones make a loud pop noise as he walks. Daniel closes his eyes as his breathing gets heavier and his body starts to sweat, he feels cold and hot at the same time, with each gasp his head begins throbbing. He grabs his hair tighter and starts crying. He looks up once more and mutters.. "who are you?"

A faint murmur can be heard.
"Well is he okay?"
Daniel opens his eyes and sits up panicked.
"Where.. what?" He grabs his chest and looks at Lucy and the doctor.
"You had a panic attack" The doctor says as he hands Lucy a prescription paper.
"I don't.. want to be here." Daniel looks at Lucy but she looks away
"How long will we be here Doc?"
"Give it one more day" The doctor walks out and closes the curtain
"I'm okay, Lucy.. please can we go home..?" His voice trembles. Lucy looks at him softly and smiles "listen baby, I'll be with you for the remainder of the night but I'll be back from work early okay?"
"You're choosing work over me?"
"I need to pay for these bills somehow" she chuckles and Daniel lays back down on the hospital bed turning away from Lucine.

As Daniel lays in his bed a faint shuffle can be heard. He opens his eyes to find it's morning, Lucine is gone and he begins staring at the ceiling and listening to the buzz of the lights. "I can't believe her.." Daniel feels his heart pound and his body shiver slightly as he starts remembering where he's at..the last place he wants to be is in a hospital. He sits up and covers his face with his hands as his body trembles. "I need to get out of here.." he lifts his head and suddenly the room begins spinning, he begins seeings these blurry dark shadows standing next to him. His heart begins pounding faster and he finds himself leaning against the wall, his breath getting heavy as he hears the beeps of the heart monitor.
They begin whispering and start reaching towards him. Daniel shuts his eyes and covers his ears as he begins counting; his heart practically leaping out his chest. A nurse comes in hurriedly and places her hands on him which causing him to jump and panic as he opens his eyes. Her voice is being drowned out by the sound of ringing and he begins darting his eyes around the room. He catches a glimpse of one more figure and be blacks out.
He awakens once more, alone, and scared. He sits up and puts his glasses on and looks around the room as his body still trembles. "Nothing.." he sighs but sees something else.. someone standing behind the curtain. "Hello?" He's worried it might be another hallucination..
The curtain opens and it's the dark haired girl from last time.
