Apollo was alone once again. There was more glamorous ways to say this, but he continued sitting in his office without much else to do. He heard the clacks and tap-tap-taps of others walking through the halls, feet racing against the rigid floor.
He was left alone with his thoughts, replaying the situation over and over as he moped in his dressing room. Kristoph still hadn't appeared again after he rushed away on a phone call with his so-called "brother." How come he had never come up in conversation?
Still, it was understandable - Apollo barely liked to shine light on his own half-sister, Trucy. It was coincidental how they'd even found each other. Only a year ago did they find out they were related thanks to Trucy's adoptive father seeking out the truth of her ancestry and accidentally digging up her relations to possibly the most famous musician on the planet at present.
How would you react if the boy you fangirled over at night and worshipped upon posters hung from your wall turned out to be your brother?
Trucy wasn't even sure how to react at first.
In fact, the first thought that came to her head at that moment was, "Do I have to share a room with him? I need my own space to do my magic!" And not some deluded comment about Apollo's stardom.
Trucy's father, Phoenix Wright, an equally well known court advocate in the world of law, had reached out to Kristoph ten or eleven months or so ago, requesting a "business meeting" with Apollo.
Apollo didn't know that business meetings entailed intense family heritage and DNA testing, but hell, he was hooked. Neither of his parents were present in his life - always travelling, always somewhere else in the world, always away from him.
Wright took it upon himself to take care of Apollo. He won legal custody of him a month ago prior to now, but only as a guardian. Since both his parents were in another country, another continent maybe, and still alive, he had no legal right to him as a parent.
This barrier of law meant nothing to Phoenix.
It meant nothing to him if it meant he could care for who was essentially his son.
Nine months ago, when Phoenix had agreed to care for him and start looking for accommodation for him and Apollo, the rock star was doubtful, and rightfully so.
Like anyone would, he believed it was only for the money. He thought Phoenix was only there to profit off of him just because Trucy was related to him, and that gave him an excuse. Those worried withered away in short time.
Phoenix cared for him like no one had ever before. His real parents, nor Kristoph, could ever show this amount of compassion for him. Instead of waking up to 'how's your work going, Apollo?' He woke up to call-in-sick-to-school-days just to stay home and watch movies, he woke up to stacks of pancakes piled up on plates in the dining room, he woke up to an annoying yet comforting, 'how'd you sleep, champ?'
Trucy treated him like a real person, too. She never once looked him in the eyes and saw the glint of his fame or heard him speak through camera shutters of paparazzi. No, she was different. She annoyed, she pranced around him, she ripped the bedsheets from him on cold winters mornings, she slammed the door in his face in the pettiest way possible. She wasn't a fan anymore. She didn't long to see Justice in person with her own eyes, no, she was a sister.
The nights when Apollo shook and tossed and turned in his own bed were only manageable thanks to her. The nights when she would burst in his room, turn on the lights, and yell at him until he could breathe steadily again. The nights when she would hold his hand and dig her nails into his skin until he saw himself as a person again. The nights when she lovingly screeched at him how stupid and idiotic he was for crying and feeling insecure about life.
