Becky's POV

My head still hurts. I recklessly got wasted last night.

Good thing Nam came to help Saint assist me to our hotel room.

Heng is driving while Freen sat at the passenger seat. By the look of them happily talking, they seem to be a happy married couple tsk.

If only Saint didn't just had an emergency at school, we wouldn't be here with these lovebirds.

"Totally forgot to bring some pills for heartache." Nam teased.

I just rolled my eyes saying,

"Should've included drops for sore eyes too."

SILENCE

"She hasn't talked to you since breakfast." Nam whispered.

"That's what you get when your bestfriend is straight and has a boyfriend." I whispered back.

"At least you're her first kiss." Nam teased.

"Unfortunately, not her last." I sadly said.

Well, I know that truth hurts. I just didn't expect it to hurt this bad.

..

Freen's POV

We finally arrived at 3 PM but Heng had to leave because he had to go to his part-time job as a fast-food cook.

Now it's just Becky and I standing in front of our houses next to each other.

AWKWARD SILENCE

You can't talk to her Freen. You chose Heng, remember?

I sighed deeply and finally entered the house without saying a word.

..

Becky's POV

I burst out crying the moment I close my bedroom door.

FLASHBACK

Kindergarten

I saw our new neighbor's daughter playing with bubbles at their lawn. She looks older than I am.

"Good morning." I enthusiastically greet her as I waved my hand in the air holding my care bear stuffed toy.

But she just ignored me and instantly ran inside their house.

Hmm she doesn't seem friendly.

NEXT DAY

I saw her playing at their porch but this time with Barbies.

"Hello. My name is Becky. Don't worry, I don't bite. May I know your name?."

But she just glanced at me and looked back to dressing her Barbies.

"Can't you talk?." I curiously asked.

"I can, but not to ugly strangers." She said and finally went inside.

..

10th Grade

We're at the school swing one afternoon, it was our vacant time since our teachers had an emergency meeting.

"I was so mean to you back then." Freen said, reminiscing the past.

"Yeah, and among all people you were the only person in the world who ever called me ugly." I smiled and she smiled back saying,

"What a brat, right? Haha."

"You totally are. Good thing Rebecca Patricia Armstrong ain't the type to give up." I sincerely said.

She looked intently into my eyes and held my hand and there goes my heart beating like crazy again,

SILENCE

"If it weren't for you, I won't be smiling as I do today. I really thought my parents' divorce was the end of my world that but you came at the right time. You're my hero. So, you're right Bec. Good thing Rebecca Patricia Armstrong ain't the type to give up. Because if she is, our story will definitely be about how we never met." Freen said appreciatively.

EOFB

My parents finally arrived.

DINNER

"..no honey, it was definitely due to market failure. But no worries, everything is under control. We got plans B-Z. In fact.." Dad said.

Even at home, all they talk about is business.

I stood up and they doesn't seem to notice until I finally got to my room.

..

Freen's POV

I peeked by the window to see how Becky is doing but she had shut the windows and curtains closed.

G, it's only been a day and I already miss her.

NEXT DAY

I called Saint early in the morning to ask him to care of Becky for me.

I know Becky is still upset because I'm ignoring her as what Heng had requested me to do.

Thank you Saint. You're an angel. And please don't tell her I asked you this favor.

[...]

Okay, bye.

I just hope I'm doing the right thing.

..

Becky's POV

I really don't get what's up with Saint that he suddenly called me to come do equestrian with him early in the morning.

I did it anyway since I have nothing in my schedule and Freen is totally wiped out in my plans.

We were just walking the horses around the indoor arena when I said,

"I just hope you don't count this as a date." I mean I need to clarify everything before it complicates.

"Don't worry, it's a favor."

"A what?."

"N-nothing. I said sure, this could count as friends hanging out. No biggy." He said.

"Good." I said.

"Anyways, I'm starving. What do you want to eat?." He asked.

..

Freen's POV

Heng asked me to go watch a movie with him. I already told him a million times now that I'm not into action movies but he still insisted, so I had no choice but to sit here annoyed and bored the entire movie.

Becky and I used to sit in front, but now I'm at the back side because Heng wanted to.

Becky and I used to watch horror and musical films, but now I'm watching a totally trashy action movie with mediocre plot.

Becky and I used to bring a lot of snacks while watching by which Heng forbids now because he said I might get ugly and fat.

Some things had changed in my life because of Heng, but I don't think this is the type of change I want.
