By midnight? Already glistening in the night sky were the moon and stars. He did not have long to live. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MIDNIGHT?" The king yelled, his voice full of rage and dread.
"My king, your fate is sealed till death," said Nova.
The king was ready to grab Nova's collar when her arresting eyes shone, silencing and impeding his actions.
“How can you forecast my destiny in this way?” the king scoffed, holding back his tears.
“I do not control your fate, my king,” Nova said, “what you see is what I foresee, you cannot escape your destiny.”
The king withdrew from Nova, emerging at last from the tent's curtains to find himself back in his throne room. He is surrounded by his servants, who comfort him and assist him in standing up again.
"Sire, what happened?" While observing the king's agitated demeanor, one of the servants inquired.
Guards rushed in front of the king and drew their spears at Nova as she stepped slowly out of the tent.
The king yelled, "SHE’S A WITCH," pointing at Nova while knowing he was about to die, "this witch deliberately cursed me, saying that I would be killed by midnight."
As Nova was prepared to fold her tent, the servants and guards exchanged puzzled glances. Nova's eyebrows also started to furrow.
“I am no witch, I’m the Seeress, my king,” Nova told the king, "I'm sorry for this unexpected future, but you must endure."
He didn't want to accept that her prophecies about his future were true and wanted to believe that it was just only a mere curse. Nova's words, "you cannot escape your fate," "Your fate is sealed till death," kept replaying in his thoughts, despite his idea to barricade his windows or boost security to safeguard his bedroom will not alter the future no matter what. The only thing he could think of was what if Nova died, would the curse on him be lifted?
The king roared, "ENOUGH!" Once more.
“—EXECUTE HER IMMEDIATELY.”
