Ezra grabbed his jet black backpack. He pulled his pitch black hoodie over his head and adjusted his ebony black scarf.
He had a feeling that this track-down would be a difficult one, because when he had tried to find all the girl's records and who had fostered her, they had vanished without a trace.
Poof! Gone! Like she'd never even existed. But she had. He'd met her himself. Surely he shouldn't have been hallucinating.
He hadn't even been able to use simple technology to track her down. No, this time, he had to track her down for real, using more than just basic tools that usually worked so well. And he had a feeling that if he found her, she would be a good deal.
But he also knew it would be incredibly difficult. Because she was not a normal girl, no, she was far from it. If a person could just vanish like that... there was only one reason why. Simply because they didn't want to be found.
So he had to be prepared.
He stuffed his bag with all the things he would need and inhaled.
What had her name been again?
Evie? Eva? Evelyn?
Ezra couldn't remember.
Frustrated, he yanked on the straps of the backpack over his shoulders, and locked up the building.
Outside, it was already dark, and the night sky was dotted with sparkling silver stars.
Ezra let out a deep breath. Nobody believed him. And no one was going to help him this time.
But now, he was going to prove them all wrong.
