“Roohi, quickly cover your face. We’re heading out now,” Rubina instructed, her voice gentle but firm. Sitting next to Roohina in a sleek black Prado, Rubina leaned over to help her sister-in-law-to-be pull up the hood of her alkyabba. Roohina complied, adjusting the hood to shield her face as they prepared for the journey ahead.
Once they arrived at the grand villa, Rubina and the others guided Roohina inside. They couldn’t help but gush about the place, pointing out its luxurious features as they led her to her new room. “This house is simply breathtaking! Wait until you see your room, Roohi,” Rubina remarked, her enthusiasm contagious. After walking for about five minutes through intricately designed hallways, they finally reached Roohina’s room.
Rubina pulled back the alkyabba hood, revealing Roohina’s wide-eyed expression as she took in her surroundings. The room was opulent yet tastefully simple. Golden hues dominated the decor, from the shimmering curtains to the elegant furniture. The space was expansive—easily large enough to accommodate six people. Every detail, from the intricate carvings on the bedposts to the soft glow of the ambient lighting, exuded understated luxury. It was a room fit for royalty.
“Well, Roohi, we’re leaving now. Happily married life!” Rubina announced, breaking the silence. She turned to the girls seated beside Roohina, motioning for them to stand.
“What? You’re leaving already? But it’s still so early, Ruby! Haba mana,” Roohina protested, a hint of sadness crossing her face.
Rubina gave her an apologetic look. “I know, Roohi, but it’s already a quarter to twelve. We really have to go,” added Mardiyya, patting Roohina gently on the back.
Roohina swallowed hard, determined to hold back tears. She had promised herself she wouldn’t cry on her wedding day. She was a woman of her word, and this was no exception. “Okay, toh… bye!” she said, blinking rapidly to clear the moisture from her eyes.
The group left, their chatter fading as they disappeared down the hall. Alone for the first time in her new home, Roohina sat on the edge of the massive bed. The silence was almost deafening. Five uneventful minutes later, the sound of a door opening broke the quiet. She turned toward the sound, only to see three young women entering her room.
“Assalamu alaiki, matar yaya!” Tasneem teased, her playful grin lighting up the room as the twins, Bushrah and Aamanee, followed closely behind her.
“Wa alaikissalam,” Roohina replied, offering a small smile and a polite nod. Tasneem opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by her ringtone. She stepped to the far side of the room to take the call, leaving Bushrah to address Roohina.
“We brought food for you and Akhie. I’m sure you haven’t eaten all day. It’s in the kitchen. There are also desserts in the fridge,” Bushrah said as she perched on an ottoman near Roohina.
“Thank you, Aamanee! It’s like you read my mind—I’m starving,” Roohina replied, her gratitude evident.
Bushrah laughed. “I’m not Aamanee; I’m Bushrah. This is Aamanee,” she said, gesturing toward her sister.
Roohina tilted her head in realization. “Ohhh, I get it now! Bushrah has hazel eyes, and Aamanee’s are obsidian, right?”
“Yes!” the twins chimed in unison, chuckling at her observation.
