When he got the phone call, they made the arrangements that were necessary for her funeral. Going back to New York, he didn't want the next time that he had all of his friends and superhero coworkers to be under this kind of circumstance.
The last time they all saw one another was during Peter's farewell party Tony threw for him when he left for Metropolis. Peter was happy that they all came, for one reason or another, they knew May and wanted to be there for Peter. Showing their support, for the man who had lost his last living family member.
The ceremony led the group to F.E.A.S.T., where there was a whole ceremony set up for them. Most of the heroes said their condolences and left, while many of them stuck around for the aftermath.
"Peter." Reed Richards, leader of the Fantastic Four, cornered Peter in the kitchen to say his condolences. "Sorry for your loss."
"Thanks, Reed," Peter said with a smile.
Back when he was first starting as a hero, Peter became a member of the newly formed Fantastic Four. He even might've had a few dates with the now wife of Reed, Susan Storm. And also, the sister of one of his only actual friends, Johnny Storm.
Speaking of which, Susan came in and joined them as she walked over and hugged Peter. "How are you doing?"
"As good as anyone can under the circumstances," Peter said as he accepted the hug.
"How are the girls?" Susan asked as she released him from the hug.
"They're doing fine," Peter assured her. "Luckily they're not showing any signs of powers."
"Worried your kids might wanna take up your mantle?" Reed asked with a laugh.
"No, Mayday is too...danger-happy and April..." Peter sighed at the reminder of the talk they had. "Despises mutants with a passion."
"I'm sorry to hear that." An all too familiar voice echoed through their heads.
Peter smiled as he knew only one man alive (plenty of women, but only one man) had the power to do that. Turning around to face the halls around F.E.A.S.T., Professor Charles Xavier himself came down the halls and turned as he came over towards them. He came in a giant yellow hover chair that Peter had invented for him when he had a steady job in Metropolis.
"You have always been one of our biggest supporters, Mr. Parker."
"Charles," Peter said with a smile.
"It's been a long time, old friend," Charles said as he smiled at Peter.
"See the chair is still working," Peter commented, still feeling the bright yellow was a poor choice on his part. "You know, all you need to do is ask and I'd change the color scheme."
"If it had been a problem, I'd have it changed," Charles assured him. "It's so good to see you."
"You, too." Peter was happy to see most of his friends made it. "How's the school?"
