Chapter 4: Can't Stop Thinking

ASH'S POV: Current Location, Mauville City Hotel

'Wow! The hotel looks so much better in-person! Right Serena?', I say. 'Oh it sure is beautiful!', Serena says, but her voice sounds very uncomfortable. 'Let's go check in, settle in our room, take a shower, change and watch a movie or something', Clemont suggests. We all agree. 

'Welcome to the Mauville City Hotel! Do you have a reservation?', the receptionist asked. 'Yes, we have a reservation. Does the room have two beds? We have two extra people joining us.', Clemont tells the receptionist. 'Yes it has two beds, your room is 1509. Here is your key that you need for the elevator and room. Enjoy your stay!', the receptionist says. 'Oh I almost forgot! The elevator is out of order currently due to maintenance, so you will have to use the stairs. I hope that's ok. The staircase is right next to the elevator.', the receptionist adds. We all walk to the staircase and begin our climb to the 15th floor. 'This is so longg', Bonnie complains. 'I agree, why do we have to climb so much-', Serena adds. Her sentence is cut off because she accidentally falls off the stair, but my instinct kicks in and I catch her before she falls. 'OH MY GOSH THANK YOUU SO MUCH', Serena says and she hugs me. I say nothing other than a nod and we eventually make it to the 15th floor. Bonnie and Serena seem to have a conversation behind me. Clemont opens our door and we unpack for the night. 'Okay, who wants to shower first?', Clemont asks first. Bonnie volunteers (with the help of Clemont, she may be smart, but she is still too short to reach the rack). 'So why are you here in Hoenn?', Serena asks. 'I am here to collect research for the Cerise Laboratory back in Vermillion City! What about you?', I reply. The conversation feels forced and very uncomfortable, but it is better than sitting in silence. 'I am a participant in the Pokemon Showcase and want to catch more Pokemon. Milotic, in particular', she responds. After that, Clemont and Bonnie come out, and Clemont showers, then me, then Serena.  After that, Clemont and Bonnie go out to get some food for us and our Pokemon, while me and Serena continue unpacking.

 'So, how are we going to sleep? It is totally okay if you don't want the bed. After all, it is weird to sleep in the same bed a stranger.', I ask her. 'Yeah it is a bit uncomfortable, I will sleep on the floor, it's fine', she says, but it felt like it took a lot of effort to say that sentence. Why would it take that much effort to say that? 'I saw you once, you know. I saw you in that news report about you on top of Prism Tower, calming that Garchomp down. You are a good person.', Serena says. I am shocked and before I can say something, Clemont and Bonnie come back in. 'We got a lot of food, so get ready! Everyone come out!', Clemont says, and he throws his Poke Balls in the air, with Bunnelby, Chespin and Luxray come out. Bonnie also takes out her Dedenne. Serena also has Pokemon and a Sylveon, Delphox and Pancham come out. When Pikachu catches one look at that Sylveon, he can't lay his eyes off it. We eat and return our Pokemon, then we get a scary movie on that Clemont rented so that Bonnie wouldn't annoy him during the movie by constantly asking questions and being noisy. It seems to work, as Bonnie walks into the bathroom. Serena joins me on the bed (because I had the popcorn, I think) and we watch it. During the end, however, just at the very scary part, she grabs my arm and buries her face into my chest. It felt weird, but good. I don't why it felt good. I don't like her, but she has the potential to be one of my very close friends. Do I like her? No, I just met her. What is wrong with me? After the movie, Bonnie comes out and jumps in the bed with Clemont and both instantly fall asleep. Serena grabs sleeping bag and falls asleep. I can't stop thinking right now. How can I like a person when I just met her? She is pretty, but it's not the time. I eventually fall asleep and wake up in the middle of the night. And I see Serena. Right next to me, hugging my arm.
