Pairing Dad!Jack Hughes x Mom!reader
Violet came home from preschool and announced that she had a boyfriend. I was sitting on the couch, when she walked in with her backpack and declared, "Daddy, I have a boyfriend."
My husband Jack looked up from his phone, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Oh really? Who is it?"
"His name is Henry. He has yellow hair and blue eyes, and he's really nice to me," Violet replied, a big grin spreading across her face.
"No! No, you don't. Boys are yucky," Jack said, sounding a bit too serious for my liking.
I rolled my eyes at his overprotective nature. "Relax, Jack. It's just a little crush. She's three. Let her have her fun."
But Jack wasn't convinced. "I don't want some little boy getting any ideas with my daughter. She's too young for that kind of thing."
I sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue with him when he got like this. "Okay, fine. But just let her enjoy her childhood. She'll have plenty of time to worry about boys later on."
The next few days were filled with stories about Henry - how he shared his snacks with her, how he helped her build a tower out of blocks, how he gave her a hug when she fell off the swings. Violet was absolutely smitten, and she couldn't stop talking about him.
Jack, on the other hand, was growing more and more agitated with each passing day. He kept muttering under his breath about how he didn't want any boy getting too close to his little girl.
One evening, we were sitting down to dinner when Violet brought up Henry once again. "Mommy, can Henry come over and play with me sometime?"
Before I could even respond, Jack spoke up. "Absolutely not. You're too young to be having playdates with boys. End of discussion."
I could see the disappointment in Violet's eyes, and it broke my heart. "Jack, come on. She just wants to have a friend over to play. It's not like she's planning a romantic rendezvous or anything."
"I don't care. I don't want any boy coming anywhere near my daughter," Jack said firmly.
I could feel my frustration building, and I knew I had to say something before things got out of hand. "Jack, you're being ridiculous. Violet is three years old. She's not going to start dating anytime soon. Let her have her innocent little crush and enjoy her childhood."
Jack looked like he was about to argue, but then he let out a sigh and nodded. "Okay, fine. But I'm keeping an eye on this Henry character. If he tries anything funny, he'll have me to answer to."
I shook my head, smiling despite myself. Sometimes Jack's overprotectiveness was endearing, but other times it was just plain exhausting.
