It had been two weeks since the incident with the fallen angels.
Asia was fully integrated into Rias' peerage. She began living at Issei's home, and even attended Kuoh Academy.
In the past two weeks, Suk-chin's contact with the devils had been pretty minimal for the most part.
"No."
"I promise you I'm not going to ask what you think I'm going to ask."
"I know. But I can sense it's something I don't want to do. So I'm pre-emptively letting you know I don't want to do it."
"Come on, man. Just hear me out this one time."
"... If it's something stupid I'm going to hit you."
"Good enough! Okay so, Rias wants you to..."
Suk-chin hit Issei over the head.
"Ow! What the fuck?"
"That's fucking stupid."
Suk-chin smirked. "But it also sounds hilarious. I'm in."
...
The previous day
"Alright, Asia and I are gonna head out now." Issei stood up from his seat in the occult research club room. "We'll drop some flyers around before going home."
From her seat behind her desk, Rias smiled. "Actually you two, there won't be any need for that."
Issei paused, before looking at her. No way. Was this finally it? Was he finally going to stop being forced into performing menial labor!?
"Issei, Asia. You'll be happy to know that you've been promoted from flyer duty."
"YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAH!" Issei cheered, raising his fists to the sky.
An awkward silence ensued, and Issei was made acutely aware of the fact that everyone was staring at him.
He returned back to his previous pose, and awkwardly coughed into his hand. "Erm, yes, sorry. Please continue."
Rias sighed into her hand. "You're such a dramatic boy."
Issei felt somewhat infantilized.
"As I was saying," Rias made an obvious pause, and Issei felt she was secretly mocking him.
"You have both been promoted." She continued. "Although, it isn't a very big promotion. The work you two have been doing thus far is mainly grunt work not usually handled by devils themselves."
Asia blinked in confusion. "If we don't do thins like hand out flyers, then who does?" The girl asked.
Rias nodded. "That's exactly where I was getting at." She told them. "That's the kind of work usually handled by familiars."
The word 'familiars' immediately set off alarm bells in Issei's head.
Familiars? She just said familiars, right? Like the kind of thing wizards and people like that get in fiction? Familiars that have to do anything they're told!?
A few not very child friendly scenarios appeared in Issei's head.
"In fact, we all have familiars here." Rias added, before snapping her fingers.
In a puff of smoke, a small bat-like creature appeared.
"Oh, it's so cute!" Asia clapped excitedly.
"Issei, you've actually met before, I believe." Rias said, which confused Issei until in another puff of smoke, the bat transformed into a woman.
