We finished up for the day and we all left for home. Benny, Ham and I all walked together because we lived on the same street. Of corse Ham and I lived in the same house but you know what I mean.

"Bye, Benny." Ham and I said at the same time.

I walked to my room and shut the door. I lay on my bed and stared up at the ceiling. I started thinking. The guy that I liked for years but haven't told because we have a friendship that I don't want to ruin, just happens to be the only guy who is looking out for me. How convenient.

The next day

I woke up to the sound of my brother running around the house and someone walking up the stairs.

"Rise and shine, it's baseball time." Benny said as he walked into my room. I groaned and slowly lifted my face out from my pillow.  "I'll meet you downstairs." Benny said as he left my room.

Got got up and dressed and went downstairs. I was wearing a white t-shirt, some jeans, my Yankees cap and some white converse. "Nice outfit." Benny said as we walked out the door.

"Thanks." I smiled at him. Ham rolled his eyes and ran ahead. I heard him mumble but didn't quite catch what he said.

Benny went to get Smalls and I told him I'd meet them at the sandlot.

I saw all the boys walking to the sandlot fighting about Smalls joining on.

I arrived at the sandlot and Ham  walked up to me. "Why are you here? We don't want you here." Ham said.

"That's a lie!" I heard squints yell from the dugout. I looked back to Ham and he started talking again.

"WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO STEAL MY FRIENDS!" He yelled at me.

"I'M NOT STEALING YOUR FRIENDS!" I yelled back. Why didn't he want me around? We never hang out anymore.

"THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE!" Ham yelled in my face.

"BECAUSE MY 'FRIENDS' LEFT ME OK! They left me by myself and all you do is be a little bitch all the time. You never want to hang out with me so Benny did." I said starting to cry. "It's not my fault everything is either to good to be true or starts as a total shit show anyway." I choked out as tears ran down my face revealing a couple scars.

I saw Benny in they corner of my eye. He was standing there with Smalls with a sad expression on his face. I ran away and heard Ham trying to call me back.

I ran to the diner where my only true friend (other than Mr.Mertle) worked.

I burst throught the doors of the diner and ran to the staff room. Mindy ran towards my and sat me down. Mindy Peffercorn was Wendy Peffercorns younger sister. Not many people knew who Mindy was.

"Hey, Hey. What's wrong. Calm down." She said as I sat there hyperventilating. Mindy was the only person other ran Benny who knew about my mental state. "Would you like to talk about it?" She asked calmly.

I just shook my head.

I heard a familiar voice at the front of the diner asking if anyone had seen me.  "Yea she went that way." I heard one of the workers say.

He cane through the door and hugged me. He gave the tightest hug I had ever had. "Y/n, I have to get back to my shift. Are you OK here with Benny?" Mindy asked me. I nodded my head and she walked back to my shift.

"I'm sorry." Benny said as he comforted me.

"It's not your fault, Benny." I replied. I had stopped crying now but I still wasn't fully calm. I wiped my eyes and started to get up.

Benny put his arm over my shoulder and we walked back to the sandlot.
