Chapter 20

Jaces POV
I woke up on Crystals chest with her arm around me. I smiled and took a deep breath to inhale her wonderful scent. My tail started to wag under the duvet as I got happier and happier that she's still here. She usually has something come up last minute. I peeked up at her face to check that I wasnt dreaming and she was actually here. She is! She stayed home for my birthday! I love her so much. Her eyes fluttered open. She smiled weakly at me. I kissed her collarbone softly. She gently ran her fingers up and down my back. "Happy birthday baby" she said. Her morning voice makes me wanna melt into nothingness. I wagged my tail more. "Thank you" I said. She took a deep breath. "We should probably get up before your dad comes in" she said. "Yeah that's a good idea" I said. I slowly sat up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I'm still in my oversized t-shirt and boxers from last night. I got up and grabbed some sweat pants. I pulled them on, pulled my tail through the hole in the back and walked back to the bed. "Ill make you some coffee" I said. She smiled as she stretched.

I walked out into the kitchen. "Hi dad" I said. "Hey Jace. Have a good fuck last night?" He asked. "Yeah... what?!" It took me a moment to process it. I jumped back in shock and horror of what he said. He laughed. "You can try all you want not to moan, doesn't mean I wont hear the head board banging against the wall" he said. I got red and looked down. My tail tucked between my legs as I walked to the coffee machine. "What are we talking about?" Crystal asked walking out. "How bad you are at being quiet" dad said. I ran my hands over my face. Crystal nodded to herself. "Yeah, that's all her." She said. I looked at her shocked. "Will you two stop! Its too early for this!" I said. "You fucked my daughter?" Dad asked. Crystal nodded. "Nice" dad smiled. "Dad!" I shrieked. They laughed. I rolled my eyes. "Happy birthday Jace" dad said. "Uh huh" I said unamused.

"So, are you ready for your gift?" Dad asked. I nodded. Crystal and I are properly dressed now. "I guess so" I said. "Ok, come on" dad said. He walked out the door and I looked at Crystal confused. "Just follow him" she said. I followed after my dad and Crystal came behind me. "Dad wait up!" I ran down the hall after him. "Not my fault you're slow. There's one power your mother didn't pass down" he said. "Not funny" I said, catching up with him. Crystal walked up behind me as I caught my breath. "Why are we in the parking garage?" I asked. "Cause that's your gift" he said, pointing. I looked at what he pointed at. "You brought my car!" I squealed. He tossed me the keys and I caught them. "I figured you might need it" he said. "You're crazy if you think I'm driving here. I'm glad to have my car back though" I said. "No Jace. I meant you might need it" he said. I looked from him to the car. "Oh! Yes, I will need it. Thank you" I said. My car transforms into the Wolfs car too. "Go stand in front of the car. I'm gonna take a photo of you" dad said. "Dad, its just my old car. Who cares?" I asked. "I do. Now go." He shoved me. Crystal dragged me to the car. "Come on Ms. Photographer. You can pose for a photo" she said. "No. I take the photo. I'm not in it" I huffed. "Shut up and look at your dad" she said. My dad took a photo and then Crystal pulled me in for a kiss. I was shocked for a moment since we're in public, but I gladly kissed back, putting my hands on her waist. Her arms wrapped around my neck. It seemed like she put all of her might into that kiss and then she pulled away. We smiled and pulled back from each other. "Ok love birds, lets go" dad rolled his eyes. "Where are we going?" I asked. Crystal snatched my keys. "To lunch" she said.

"I didn't even know they had this restaurant here" I said. "I guarantee you could find majority of restaurants here" Crystal said. I chuckled. Dad sat across from us. Crystal rested her head on my shoulder as our food came out. Crystal hooked her arm around my shoulder and pulled me into her. She pulled out her phone. "Smile" she said. "What is it with you guys and the pictures today?" I asked with a laugh. Never the less, I smiled genuinely as she took the photo. I don't really see how this day could get better. I got my awesome girlfriend, my dad, and my car! The only thing that could possibly make this better, is if the Ruff Ranger and I magically catch the Mad Magician somehow.

Carters POV
"Hey mom" Kaida said. I looked over at her. She's laying sideways on the chair next to the couch. "What?" I asked. "Check your girls Instagram" she said. "Harlow doesn't have Instagram" I said. "Your other girl" she said. "Wolf?" I asked. "Crystal" she said. "Oh!" I said. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I opened the app and the first post I got was Crystals. She's with Jace and the caption says Happy Birthday Babe! My jaw dropped. I swiped to the next photo of them kissing in the car garage. "She didn't" I said, shocked. "She did" Harlow said, walking in the door. "How long have you been outside?" I asked. "Not long. Yeah, that's real. Rupert told her to do it. Crystal just entered our side of fight" she said. "The war more like it" I rolled my eyes. "At least you're not alone now" she said, going to the bedroom. I got up and followed her.

"Hey, are you ok? You seem really jittery" I said. "I'm fine." She said calmly. "Babe, talk to me" I sajd, slowly. She sighed and looked at me. She hesitated. "Don't be mad... but..." she started. That's never a good start. "I lost your ring" she said. My eyebrows shot up. "Ok?" I said. "You're not mad?" She asked. "No. Why would I be? We'll just get another one. Its jewelry babe. It falls off. You're not Wonder Woman." I said. "Ouch" she huffed. I laughed and walked to her. "Ill get you a new ring. Which one did you lose?" I asked. "This one" she said holding up her bare finger. That's where the gold one usually is. "Ok, don't worry babe" I said, kissing her cheek.

"The gold ring?" Kaida asked. "Yeah, what about it?" I asked. "What size is Harlow?" She asked. "On that finger, eight. Why?" I asked. She stared at me for a moment and then looked down in thought. "Kaida?" I asked. "The ring Wolf found was a size eight" she said. I stood up from the couch. "Are you accusing my girlfriend?" I whisper yelled. "Its a theory. She said her magic was glitching more. Doesn't her magic only glitch when she tries to use it? Maybe she's been overusing it" Kaida said. "Kai, she's your mom. You really think she's capable of that?" I asked. "You think she isn't? You said she was going after homophobes. She attacked my ex. Harlow makes perfect sense. She's doing it for you" she said. I took a step back in disbelief. I shook my head. "No. No you're wrong and Ill prove it" I snapped.
