mariah dragged her feet to the gymnasium with a frown covering her face. she was told that the volleyball team would have to practice for their first game that was in two weeks already.
the girl wasn't mad she was just upset that they would have to already start when she was feeling the worst she could. it was worse that kacey wasn't there to make her laugh about the dumbest shit either.
as mariah walked down the stairs to get changed into her clothes she had accidentally bumped into hailey on the way, "oh my bad." they both apologized at the same time.
the two made eye contact and immediately started laughing softly. hailey was gonna get up to walk back upstairs but she furrowed her eyebrows, "mari what you doing here anyway?"
"to change? why?" she asks.
hailey purses her lips in a awkward manner. "we gonna tryout outside. you know that right?"
mariah's mouth parted, closing her eyes. she hated this, it was mad hot outside and now this? she didn't even want to practice today. "aight thank you hails." she smiled at the girl who smiled back.
the blonde girl groaned silently as she switched out of her clothes to a pair of spandex shorts and a regular shirt. afterwards mariah switched her phone off to dnd before jogging back upstairs and making her way to the back door that opened up to the back of the school.
the whole volleyball practice wasn't even a practice fr, it was just a whole list of procedures they had to go over before the games started along with there practices.
now it was the time where the coach announced of who was the captain of the team. mariah wasn't even paying attention as she was zoned out on the grass just daydreaming until her name got called.
"mariah and emani were both a tie on my scoreboard so does either of you want to opt out of the position or play over it?" coach nali asked both of the girls who made eye contact that exact second.
