Chapter 8

*Bowser's POV*

I'm still in dismay about Y/n's sudden disappearance...

It had only been 24 hours since she left, but my heart has felt like it's been torn in two. Kamek had suggested that I go to get her back, and so I set off on foot to the Mushroom Kingdom, Kamek by my side. 

Over the past week and a half, my feelings for the Princess have been tested. I've been through alot during a very short period of time, and some may say that everything was happening very quickly, but somehow it felt so right, and because of this I made it my goal to make my feelings for her known, something I didn't get to do 24 hours ago.

I neared the Mushroom Kingdom, its gates heavily guarded and locked. It seemed the Kingdom was preparing for my arrival...

*Y/n's POV* 

After what felt like aeons, I finally was back at mine and Peach's Castle, in the comfort of the strong reinforced walls and the bright colours of the lengthy halls. I'd spent the morning on the front balcony of the castle, joined by Peach and the mysterious guy from earlier, having found out his name was actually Mario and he had a brother called Luigi. We stood in silence, the sort that wasn't awkward or odd, and I awaited the arrival of Bowser. By now, Peach had known everything- my feelings for him, his feelings for Peach, and the main events that happened from when I was still at his castle. Peach didn't hide the fact that she was worried for me, but she also decided to support my decision, and was willing to help me confess to the King of The Koopas when he arrived.

"Y/n!" I heard Mario say to me.

I turned my head in confusion.

"I think Bowser is here..." 

I looked back out onto the horizon, and there he was, striding forcefully towards the Kingdom with Kamek by his side and his own floating Kingdom not far behind. I swallowed the lump in my throat as Peach came over to me, grabbed my hand gently as a form of comfort.

"Y/n... promise me..." Peach whispered in my ear, "Promise me that you'll be safe..."

I sighed nervously, my heart fluttering heavily.

"I promise."

Peach led me and Mario down and out of the castle, passing through the empty streets of the Kingdom until we reached the slowly opening gates of the Kingdom's exit. By now, Bowser was only a couple of miles away, his figure nearing us very quickly. Me, Peach and Mario all linked hands in comfort, and within no time, the King had arrived.

*Bowser's POV*

Here I was... standing outside the Mushroom Kingdom, faced with my ex-crush, her 'partner in crime', and the Princess I came here to see, the one I'm so hopelessly in love with. We both looked at each quietly, taking me back into that now-familiar trance that I only ever got near her; or that was until Peach interrupted us, annoying me for the first time in forever.

"King Bowser of The Koopas, may I ask what your business is here?"

I was about to speak, before Kamek spoke up for me.

"The King is here on business regarding your Princess Y/n,"

I saw Y/n gulp slightly, and I assumed that they were worried about something, which worried me too.

She seemed so strong and fearless whenever I saw her, but now she seemed reduced to her own little bubble of worry... had I caused this shift in her mood?

It was obvious Peach wanted to protect Y/n but she let her come forward, and we were soon facing each other, looking at each other with a certain gleam in our eyes.

I started off by talking about the note she left, quickly forgetting about the other individuals here with us both.

"So, um, Y/n... I saw the note you left on your room's door... and it stated that you wanted to see me?"

Y/n took a deep breath.

"Indeed it did..." she sighed, " But by that, I meant that I wanted to speak to you about an issue that has arisen not only during the past few days, but from a couple of years ago..."

We looked at each other silently as Y/n prepared to speak again. But what she said next made my breath hitch.

"I... really like you Bowser. And although you confessed to liking my sister, I still like you, and even if you don't share these feelings I have, I still want you to know how I feel..."

Processing these words, my face became bright red and my eyes widened.

She... she liked me back!

Suddenly, everything felt amazing in that moment, and my mind was quick to speak the words I had wished to speak many hours ago...

*Third-Person POV*

Bowser froze for a short while after Y/n confessed, both looking at each in anticipation, before he finally replied.

"I'm sorry again for saying such things about Peach... and I really like you too. I realised my feelings only a couple of days after you were at the castle, and admittedly I fell head over heels for you..."

Y/n edged closer and closer to Bowser as he crouched down ever so slightly. The others watched in anticipation as the two got closer, and finally, they shared a subtle kiss, leaning into each other as if in a deep romantic trance. For the two lovers, it felt like fireworks, and when they separated they looked at each other with complete adoration in their eyes.

Bowser cleared his throat, and spoke with a slight stammer and shake in his voice.

"Y/n, will you take me as your loyal partner... you my loyal queen?"

Y/n smiled.

"Will you stop going after other Kingdoms and go back to being the kind individual you once were?"

Bowser chuckled.

"If it means I can be with you, then of course..."

"Then I'd be more than happy to be the Queen of The Koopas-"

Peach quickly interrupted the moment, silently apologising before speaking up.

"Guys, please get a room," she laughed, as she smiled at the two lovebirds. Everyone shared a moment of laughter, and the lovers shared another kiss, realised that the conflict in the deepest part of their brains had been eased, and they finally had each other in the end...
