" Ed your a good man. If it weren't for you she would be dead right now." a sweet woman's voice says.
I slowly open my eyes and the woman notices because she comes over to me and starts talking.
"How are you feeling hunny?
in a groggy voice I say "Good. Can I speak to the man who brought me here? I think his name is Eli? Oh wait no maybe it's Ed?"
The woman who seems to be my nurse giggles, "yes his name is Ed, I'll give you guys a minute.
Now that I can see clearly stare at Ed for a moment. I thought he was way older but he only looks like he's in his twenties. His arms are covered in tattoos and he has gorgeous red/orange hair and his eyes, oh my gosh their this beautiful blue color. He's not the usual hot but for some reason I find him very attractive.
" What happened to me?" I ask Ed
"I'm not sure. I found you lying on the ground and your head was surrounded by a blood puddle. you must have hit it on something." He says while standing from the chair he was sitting in and walking towards me.
"Oh, thank you." I say to him. after all the nurse said if it wasn't for him I would be dead.
"Your welcome. hey anyways I never got your name, what is it?" He says now bending down at the side of my bed.
"Umm... well... it's ... uhhhh." I look down because honestly I don't know my name. "I don't know my name. I don't exactly have the best life, that's why I was running away."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. is it okay if I call you uh, Ella? I like that name a lot."
"I mean if you want too. Ed I don't know where to go when they let me leave.."
In a very sweet tone , Ed says, "Your family will be called later after noon. they didn't know your name and you were unconscious so they didn't have anyone to call."
I'm laying down and I immediately sit up. As I do Ed puts his hand on my wrist.
" No! No you can't let them call my family. No! I need to leave." My voice cracks and a tear starts to fall from my eye.
" Ella, they have to call our family, it's a policy." he says trying to calm me down.
I think my heart is going to fall out of chest. I can't go back home.
I start sobbing, "Ed no please no you can't let them call. I can't go home. please can't you do something? Please can you just say your family? Just please check me out, I'll find money and pay the bill. and then once were out you can pretend we never met."
"I can try. They probably won't believe me but I'll make it work." Ed says winking at me and then standing up and walking back to the chair.
He picks up his phone and starts dialing a number.
"Hello, this is Ed. I'm in room 63C with the patient I brought in with the head injury. can I please have someone come in here." he says into the phone . next thing I know a women with long bling hair about in her early forties walks in.
"Hello Ed what is the problem here." she says while looking from Ed to me.
" Well the nurse told me she has to call her family. but I was so shaken up that I didn't get to tell her something important. The patient, her name is Ella . I am her brother and we have no family left. its just the two of us. So whenever she is ready to go home. the bill can go to me and we'll be on our way." When Ed finishes I gasp.
I cannot believe that he just did that for me.
"Okay thank you, we will get the paperwork ready for you." the women says while walking out the door.
