"I'm, uh, is Levi here?" He stuttered, and the woman looked him over before smiling brightly and opening the door wide, gesturing for Eren to come in.
"Levi, one of your friends are here!" She called up the stairs, and Eren unbuttoned the collar of his jacket; it was warm in the house.
"Your house is beautiful." Eren had accidentally complimented, and the lady turned to him once again.
"Thank you, it's taken a while for us to transform it into what it is today." Eren kept eye contact with her as she spoke, and he knew the second she noticed his eyes. Her eyebrows creased and she squinted a bit, but said nothing about it. Eren smiled softly at her, and the woman let a smile on her lips once again.
"Do you go to school with Levi?" She asked, and Eren bit his lip. He opened his mouth to reply, but was cut off by someone stomping down the stairs. He turned his head and looked up the staircase, meeting blue hues.
Eren didn't fail to notice the falter in his step, the way his eyes widened, or the glare he sent the lady that stood beside him.
"You didn't text me." Levi raised his hand, where he held his phone. "I would've answered the door."
"Oh, I forgot, I'm sorry." Eren watched as Levi walked down the rest of the stairs, taking the time to look him over.
Levi looked like your average punk kid, he had an undercut, pale skin, a hoop in his eyebrow, and he wore all black. Eren didn't notice the chain that hung from his pocket till he heard it jingle.
"Levi, who's your friend? You haven't brought him around before."
"Someone from school. We're leaving now." Eren winced at Levi's tone, and watched as he pulled a black hoodie over his head. Levi stuck his hand in pocket and pulled out a key, then opened the door.
"Come on, let's go." He jogged out of the house and down the stairs with Eren trailing behind him.
Levi stopped in from of the garage, and Eren raised an eyebrow.
"What?" Levi asked, and Eren shrugged.
"I thought we would walk or something." He replied, and Levi grimaced.
"It's cold though." He said, and Eren laughed at that. Levi mumbled something under his breath, pressing a button on the panel that was on the wall, and the doors opened.
"That's yours?" Eren was staring at the Ferrari parked inside, and Levi scoffed and shook his head.
"That's mine." He corrected, gesturing to the matte black Camaro parked on the opposite side. To make his point, he pressed something on his key chain and the headlights flashed as the car unlocked.
"Wow," Eren breathed, and Levi chuckled. Levi got into the drivers side, and Eren mimicked his actions, sliding into the passengers seat.
Eren silently gasped, the car was absolutely spotless. He watched as Levi turned the key in the ignition, and both boys jumped when the stereo came to life and started blaring music.
"Sorry," Levi said as he fiddled with the knobs, brining the music down to a reasonable volume.
"That's Black Flag, right?" Eren asked, and Levi nodded his head rigorously as he pushed a button to turn the heat on.
"You listen to them?" Eren shook his head, earning a disappointed sigh from the smaller of the two.
"I've heard a few songs, I'm just not into that type of music." He replied, and Levi clicked his tongue.
"Do you mind if I listen to it?" Levi asked, his finger hovering over the eject button.
"No, go ahead, it's fine." Eren assured, and Levi nodded and put his hands on the steering wheel. He pulled out of the driveway, and Eren watched in awe as Levi drove down the street, still amazed by the houses.
"Where do you wanna go?" Levi asked, and Eren bit his lip in thought.
"Mmm, Starbucks?" Levi nodded again, turning a corner back onto main road.
They rode in silence, both felt awkward but were too shy to say anything. Levi surprised himself, he never felt self conscious, but he couldn't help looking at Eren out of the corner of his eye every few seconds to see if the boy was already looking at him. He never was though, he just looked out the window with a stupid little smile plastered on his face.
"So, you failed English?" Eren asked, and Levi scowled.
"I didn't fail, I just never showed up."
"So you failed." Eren argued, smirking when Levi sighed heavily through his nose.
"If I had showed up, I would've passed." Levi said, and Eren chuckled.
"But you failed." Levi just exhaled angrily, and they fell back into silence, though this time it wasn't so uncomfortable.
