As Lan Zhan pleaded with Wei Ying to give him the chance to explain, her heart wrestled with conflicting emotions. The pain of witnessing the scene with Dana Jane had reawakened past wounds, reopening the floodgates of old rejections and doubts. She struggled to trust, fearing that history would repeat itself.

Tears streamed down Wei Ying's face as memories of previous heartaches consumed her thoughts. The fear of being vulnerable and getting hurt again threatened to overshadow any hope of reconciliation.

"Lan Zhan," she choked out, her voice filled with anguish, "I can't bear the pain anymore. I've been rejected before, and this... This feels like another wound, reopening all my scars."

In the deafening silence of the room, Wei Ying's gaze locked with Lan Zhan's, searching for answers within his eyes. Emotions swirled within her-betrayal, hurt, and a desperate yearning for the truth.

Lan Zhan's features contorted with shock as he regained his senses, realizing the distress Wei Ying was experiencing. His voice quivered with sincerity as he tried to find the right words to explain the situation.

"Wei Ying, please believe me. This is not what it seems. I would never betray you in such a manner. There is an explanation for all of this."

Wei Ying's heart wavered, torn between her love for Lan Zhan and the undeniable evidence before her eyes. With trembling hands, she gestured towards the scene, her voice laced with pain.

"How can you deny what I see before me? I trusted you, Lan Zhan. But now... now I don't know what to believe."

Lan Zhan's eyes glistened with tears, his voice laden with regret. "Wei Ying, I understand your doubts, but I swear to you, there is a deeper truth to this situation. Please, give me the chance to explain."

Lan Zhan's eyes softened with empathy as he reached out to hold Wei Ying's trembling hands. His voice was gentle, filled with remorse and determination.

"Wei Ying, I understand your pain. I know that my past actions have caused you immense hurt, and I regret every moment of it. But please, believe me when I say that this time is different. I love you, and I would never intentionally betray your trust."

Wei Ying's heart ached at the sincerity in Lan Zhan's words, torn between her desire to believe and her fear of being hurt once more. The weight of their love and the magnitude of their shared experiences hung heavily in the air.

Taking a deep breath, Wei Ying looked into Lan Zhan's eyes, searching for the truth she desperately longed to find. She saw the vulnerability and remorse etched in his gaze, and a flicker of hope sparked within her.

"Lan Zhan, I want to believe you," she whispered, her voice laced with both vulnerability and determination. "But it will take time for me to heal and rebuild the trust that has been shattered. Can you give me that time?"

Lan Zhan nodded, his grip on Wei Ying's hands tightening. "I will give you all the time you need, Wei Ying. I am willing to do whatever it takes to mend the wounds I have caused."

With that understanding, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan embarked on a journey of healing together. They decided to take a step back from their relationship, allowing space for introspection, self-reflection, and individual growth.
