Delaney smiled as she slipped the clean, lacy white gloves onto her hands.

"Delaney Romanov! Get down here right now, young lady! The coronation ceremony is about to begin!" called her mother.

"Coming, Mother!" Delaney replied, rolling her eyes fondly.

The Romanov Palace was bursting with excitement over the event. Delaney's coronation was coming today, as was her eleventh birthday. Delaney was overjoyed at the prospect of her Hogwarts letter arriving, as she had already finished her schooling at магическая академия, her previous school in Russia. Being crowned as princess of the Russian-Hungarian Empire was just the cherry on top of her perfect day.

Apparating down to the foyer, Delaney smoothed her coronation dress and steeled her nerves.

There's nothing to be nervous about, Del. You've practiced this so many times. You're not gonna mess up, she assured herself.

Finally mustering up her courage, Delaney waited for the bell to signal her entrance to the throne room.

Once the bell rang, she slowly walked down the red aisle towards the throne, where her parents stood. Looking nowhere but forwards, Delaney gave a slight smirk at the sight of her mothers warm smile and her father's proud grin.

Upon reaching the end of the aisle, Delaney knelt in front of her parents and waited for them to make their speech before crowning her.

"Citizens, friends, family and strangers. Before us kneels the future princess of the Russian-Hungarian Empire, heiress to the Romanov fortune, next in line for the throne of our nation, Delaney Vittoria Romanov. After swearing in, she will take upon herself many responsibilities, not least of which shall be studying her future role as Queen. In swearing her in, we have full faith that she will be a suitable heir to the throne, as do we hope she will be a suitable Queen for you all. Delaney Vittoria, you may now rise," spoke the king, glancing at his daughter towards the end of his speech.

Rising to her feet, Delaney turned towards her mother and placed her left hand over her heart and her right hand up in the air.

"Delaney Vittoria Romanov, do you swear on your throne and your country to place the needs of your citizens and your country before your own?" asked her mother, facing Delaney with a serious expression.

"I do," came the reply.

"Do you swear to be a fair and impartial ruler in the future and make the best possible decision when the time arises?"

"I do."

"Do you swear to defend your country in any way possible, using all resources possible to come out on top?"

"I do."

"I pronounce you Princess and Heiress Delaney Vittoria Romanov of the Russian-Hungarian Empire," said the queen, placing a tiara on Delaney's head delicately.

Upon this announcement, the crowd stood up and clapped, cheering. Delaney smiled softly at her parents, who grinned fondly at the sight of their daughter.

After the guests were ushered out, the small family headed towards the sitting room.

"I'm proud of you, Laney. Lots of people crack from the pressure far before the coronation," smiled Delaney's father, settling down comfortably in an emerald green armchair.

"It was nothing, Father. The practice did help, though. I'm just excited for my Hogwarts letter, honestly," said Delaney, beaming.

"Your father and I were both placed in Slytherin, and we predict that you will too, but do not mistake our prediction for expectation. We will love you no matter which house you are sorted into, remember," said the queen, patting Delaney's head fondly.

Just then, an owl flew in and dropped a letter over Delaney's head. She reached her hand up, catching the letter as it fell and opening it.

Delaney smiled, knowing exactly what she was holding. Opening the letter, she beamed upon reading it.

Dear Miss Romanov,

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Yours Sincerely,

Delaney was overjoyed. Immediately, she called her house elf, Kimsey, and asked her to send an owl to Delaney's best friend, Chanel Lexington.

Within moments of the letter being delivered, Chanel arrived via Floo.

"DEL!" yelled Chanel.

"NEL!" yelled Delaney

"I GOT IN!"

"I DID TOO!"

Delaney's parents smiled fondly, remembering first getting their letters.

The pair of girls continued to fawn excitedly over their letters and their upcoming trip to Diagon Alley in London. Both girls had gone to the same school in Russia, having met in their first year there. They graduated top of their class and were prepared to go to Hogwarts, having heard incredible things about it from their parents.
