Chapter 11

Ari is currently two months pregnant

Aria and Mac were sitting together in the waiting room, and Ari was feeling nervous. She wanted the baby to be healthy and didn't want any complications. Mac was right by Ari's side, and he noticed her unease. He asked if she was okay, and Ari shook her head, expressing her fear. Mac reassured her, placing his hands on her belly and promising to protect both her and the baby. He kissed her belly, then her lips, and hugged her tightly, assuring her that everything would be alright.

When their names were called, Aria and Mac entered the room where Vanessa, the nurse, would be performing the ultrasound. Vanessa introduced herself and asked if they were ready. Ari nodded, and Mac sat beside her, holding her hand for support. Vanessa inquired about how far along Ari was, and she replied that she was two months pregnant. Vanessa proceeded to cover Ari's belly, and Ari lifted her shirt to reveal a small bump. The nurse applied gel to Ari's belly and began the ultrasound.

As Vanessa moved the device around, she located the baby on the screen. Both Ari and Mac were overwhelmed with emotion and started crying tears of joy. They couldn't believe what they were seeing. Vanessa took the time to explain everything to them, and then asked if they would like a picture of the ultrasound. Ari eagerly agreed, and Vanessa happily obliged. She also asked if they wanted to know the gender of the baby, but Mac preferred to wait for the surprise. Vanessa commended their decision and printed out the ultrasound picture for them.

Vanessa proceeds to clean up Ari and then prints the baby's picture. She hands it to them and wishes them a wonderful day. Mac thanks her and they leave the building, discussing what just happened. They decide to show the team and hurry to not be late. They arrive at the Phoenix Foundation and are greeted by Jack, Riley, and Thornton. Jack expresses his happiness, and Ari happily confirms that the baby is okay, showing them the ultrasound picture.

Riley and Jack are amazed, and Thornton asks if everything went well. Ari assures her that it did, and Thornton offers Ari a job with them, impressed by her skills. Ari gladly accepts, and everyone welcomes her. Aria hugs Mac, expressing her pride in him. They then leave to go home, and Mac orders Chinese food.

Ari was completely unaware of what was about to happen. Mac was eagerly anticipating Ari's reaction. Ari was sound asleep in the bedroom when the food arrived. Mac quickly grabbed some plates and went to fetch Ari.

"Hey," Mac greeted. "Hey," Ari replied, rubbing her eyes. "I have a surprise for you. Since you made it into the Phoenix Foundation, I thought we should celebrate," Mac said. "Celebrate? With what?" Ari asked, puzzled. "You'll have to come and see for yourself," Mac replied. Ari was confused.

Ari walked out of the bedroom to find Chinese food waiting for her. Mac smiled. Mac and Ari settled on the couch, enjoying their meal and discussing the events of the day. "I'm still in shock about what happened today," Ari admitted. "What, seeing the baby or being welcomed into the Phoenix Foundation?" Mac asked. "Both," Ari replied happily. "I'm proud of you," Mac said. "And I'm proud of you," Ari responded, playfully tapping Mac on the nose. Mac smiled and placed his hand on Ari's belly. "Are you ready for your first-ever mission tomorrow?" Mac asked. "Yes," Ari replied with excitement. Mac smiled, and so did Ari.
