darkness.

that's all Sophie had seen for days. or had it been weeks? it was too hard to tell in this endless fog of black. she'd had this nagging sensation in the back of her mind, trying to tell her she needed something. Sophie knew she would have to go back soon, except that she didn't know how to...and she kind of, maybe, wanted to stay in the fog. it was relaxing. like going to the beach after a stressful week.

as she drifted, something caught her eye, a wisp of blue. snaking out of the mist, towards her, circling a few feet away from her. Sophie probably should have been a bit scared, but she wasn't. this breeze made her feel calm, collected. ready to face anything life threw her way. she knew this wisp; she just couldn't place her finger on it... Keefe! Sophie mentally screamed. suddenly all her memories came rushing at her. she needed to get back to her friends. her family. the black swan. she needed to get back to Keefe. as if sensing what she was thinking, the wisp dove back into the fog. being her uncareful self, Sophie followed.

when they finally stopped moving, they were in front of a big, black door. Sophie tried rattling the handle. locked. frick, she swore under her breath. she tried pounding on the door, kicking it, rattling the handle again. nothing worked. unless she could find a different way out of here, she was trapped. then she saw the wisp again. it re-energized her, giving her hope, courage, and making her feel ready. Sophie stood up, ready to bust open the door and get back to her life. but then she saw something in her mind. a young man sitting at the bedside of a young woman lying in a bed, with her eyes closed. the young man was clutching the womans as if it were his anchor to sanity. then Sophie realized, the young man had a name. Keefe. and the woman did too. Sophie. snapping out of that vision, whatever it was, took alot of mental energy. but seeing Keefe like that gave her all the energy she needed. she went at the door again and again. about ready to give up, but giving it one last go, she smashed the door open.

opening her eyes at last.
