Chapter 1

Cries of twins echoed in a hospital room as a woman not more than 22 gave birth to her firstborns. After a while, the twins were bought back after being cleaned and wrapped in soft warm towels.

The young couple each held a twin. The father held their second born, their baby girl. While the mother held their first born, their baby boy. "Our baby boy... Itachi Uchiha," the woman said, with a gentle smile.

"And our baby girl... Y/n Uchiha," the man said, with gentle eyes and a slight smile. They had already discussed and decided what to name them.

Y/n and Itachi shared the room as they were babies. When one started to cry, the other would start crying too. When one started to laugh, the other would laugh too.

Someone mentioned to Mikoto, it must be because they are twins and might be feeling what the other is feeling. But another mentioned it must be because they see each other cry or laugh and just copy the other.

It is a mystery to their parents which is the real reason. Itachi and Y/n are quiet babies, only when they are next to each other. If one of them is missing, they both start crying.

Baby Y/n had been rolling around on the floor and giggling. Baby Itachi started rolling around and giggling too. But Y/n suddenly disappeared from his sight, as she had rolled out of the room and into the hallway.

Baby Itachi stopped and sat up, looking around him to find his twin but couldn't find her. Baby Y/n who had rolled into the hallway had sat up too and looked around for Itachi. Soon as if in sync, the twins started crying loudly, their cries echoing throughout the house.

Fugaku who was in the next room, talking to some clan members excused himself and got out of the room. There he found Y/n sitting in the hallway and crying her eyes out. He sighed, shaking his head with a slightly smile having known why they would be crying.

Fugaku picked baby Y/n and went into the room and sat her down next to baby Itachi. Their crying slowed down and finally stopped as they hugged each other.

Mikoto came in to check up on them, "What happened?"

"Y/n somehow ended up in the hallway and as usual if they don't see each other, they started crying. Now they have calmed down so I'll go back to work then," Fugaku said.

"Okay," Mikoto replied and put a blanket on the twins as they fell asleep.

Growing up, the twins stuck to each other at hip. They were given bathes together. They shared their foods, clothes and room. Itachi and Y/n always followed each other around and played together.

They were already age 4 when they followed their father to the battlefield during the final weeks of war and saw the horrors of war. When Itachi tried to give water to a fallen man, the man tried to attack him. Scared, Y/n stabbed the man and held Itachi close.

"Tachi are you okay?," Y/n asked, worried as she checked him.

Itachi smiled at Y/n and patted her head, "I'm okay. Thank you for protecting me."

Y/n gave a big happy smile. "What are you two doing here?," A voice was heard from behind her.

They turned their heads in the direction of voice to find their father. "We were looking for you father," Itachi replied.

"Yeah! And Tachi tried helping that man but he tried to her Tachi! Bad man!," Y/n puffed out her cheeks with a frown.

"Why did he do that father?," Itachi asked.

"Because this is war. This is what it does. It turns people against people. Nations against nations to survive and protect their families. If you have weapons then even a child is considered enemy on the battlefield, that's why he tried to kill you," Fugaku answered Itachi.

"If everyone are trying to protect their family then why are they fighting? They can protect their family without fighting too, right?," Y/n asked titling her head, confused why the adults are making things difficult.

"That's because humans are foolish and even a small incident between nations could spark war. They are fighting for their villages," Fugaku answered.

Y/n nodded, still not understanding why it can't be solved though peaceful means. This incident had changed the twins forever.

Itachi: Hi Author-chan!
Y/n: Hey, when are you gonna update next?
Itachi: Y/n that's bad manners.
Author-chan: *nonchalantly* Whenever.
Y/n: What? That's too vague.
Author-chan: Whenever I feel like it. Whenever I want. Whenever I can.
Itachi: *calm voice* Does that mean it will take really long time?
Author-chan: Hmm... If you remind me after a week or so then I'll write and post one.
Y/n: What?!
Author-chan: There is possibility I might forget about it.
Y/n: *agitated* What?! How can you forget about us?!
Author-chan: .....
Itachi: .....
Y/n: .....
Author-chan: .....
Y/n: *shouts* Hey! Don't ignore me!
* Author-chan runs away *
Y/n: Hey!
Itachi: We should go too.
Y/n: Fine.
* Itachi and Y/n disappears *
