19. Talk

Alexa's POV

The past few days have been execeptionally uneventful for me. I've been in recovery for my ankle so haven't been with other girls much, I'd just been working with the physios and in and out of the hydro pool. On the bright side, I was now back to walking without crutches and I felt fairly normal. I was even allowed to join in with a bit of training today so I'm hopeful that I'll be back for the next match.

I'd showered and changed into fresh shorts and t-shirt when I heard a knock on the door, oops my hair was still wet. I opened it to see Leah and Kiera who had come to collect me on their way downstairs.

"God what were you up to in the shower Alexa, you look like you've only just got out" Kiera joked

"Wouldn't you like to know" I taunted, hoping to tease Leah more than Kiera

I think it worked because Leah stayed quiet and looked me up and down on my way out the room.
The relaxation room was already busy when we got there with girls in every corner playing video games, basketball or darts. We slumped down onto the bean bags where some of the girls were already sat.

"What we doing for your birthday tomorrow Oakes?" asked Georgia

"Can't exactly go on a mad one the day before the quarters so probably just hang out" I responded

"You didn't say it was your birthday!" exclaimed Leah

"I almost forgot to be fair there's been so much going on" I laughed, secretly enjoying how much she cared

I usually went out for my birthday, either with my friends or family so I was slightly disappointed we wouldn't be able to do much for it, but it's not very often you're playing in a major tournament.

Beth pulled me out of my bean bag and over to the pool table with Jill, if anyone was ever up for a game, it was us. As we were finishing the first game we were joined by the others, probably because it was the loudest game of pool you'd ever heard. It was Beth and Jill against me and I was losing, loudly protesting that it was unfair.

"I've got you don't worry, I'm good at pool" said Leah as she walked over smirking and took the cue off me. Why did I find that so hot?!

To be fair to her, Leah actually was really good at playing pool, apparently she used to play at her local football club with her brother.
We had soon caught up with Beth and Jill and both just needed to pot the black ball. As I bent over to take the shot, Leah stood behind me so that my back was against her and she angled my arms correctly. I could feel her breath on my neck and really quietly she whispered in my ear
"come to my room later", it gave me goosebumps. Wow, that was distracting. I tried my hardest to focus on the shot and managed to pot the black in the corner pocket.

"Yesss" I shouted running round the table with my arms out, taunting Beth and Jill. Leah was laughing with the other girls and I felt like I'd scored in multiple senses.

I glanced up towards the door and saw that Alessia was leaving by herself and was not looking her normal cheerful self. I excused myself to go to the bathroom as I knew I needed to talk to her.

"Less!" I called down the hallway, I could tell that she'd heard me and considered carrying on but then she looked back and saw me rushing towards her, struggling slightly as my ankle wasn't 100% and she slowed down.

"Can we talk?" I asked

"Yeah okay" she said quietly

We made our way outside to get some fresh air and sat on a bench so I could rest my ankle. There was a lot of awkward tension hanging over us.

"The other day when you saw me and.."

"It's ok I haven't told anyone" she interjected

"I know, you're not like that" I smiled softly at her

"That's not why I wanted to speak to you, I want to check if we're ok?" I continued

"Uh yeah I just feel a bit embarrassed to be honest" she admitted staring at her feet

"Why embarrassed?" I asked

"You know why"

I paused and then kindly said "I care about you a lot Alessia"

"I know, just not in the same way that I do" she admitted finally looking up at me

"I'm sorry" I said squeezing her arm

"It's okay, you don't have to be, I could see that there was something between you and Leah just from how you looked at each other.. I was just kidding myself."

I blushed slightly at that comment, was it that obvious?

"I'm sorry I didn't realise sooner, are we going to be okay?" I asked hesitantly

"We will be, I just need time but I'm happy for you. You seem happy."

"I am. I'm glad we've had this chat though, you're important to me Less and I didn't like seeing you down."

We pulled each other into a hug as we stood up and I breathed a sigh of relief.  I think we're okay now. As we rejoined the others I felt as if a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

After an hour or so the girls started to filter upstairs to bed and I noticed Leah leave but didn't want to follow too closely that it was suspicious. The phrase 'come to my room later' had been floating round my head since she had said it though so I didn't wait too long.

I'd only knocked on her door twice before it swung open and Leah's hand pulled me into the room.

"Hey" we smiled at each other as she hugged me and then pulled me over to sit on the edge of her bed.

I took in the room around me, it was pretty much a mirror image of my room next door and I realised our beds were against the same wall so she had literally been sleeping a few feet way from me. Leah's stuff was everywhere and I laughed internally that her messiness wasn't just restricted to the changing rooms.

"I've missed you the last few days"  she said stroking my hand with her thumb

"So have I.. and I've missed doing this" I leant forward and pressed a kiss on her lips.

Leah whispered "me too" before pulling me back in for another kiss.

The kiss deepend and Leah pulled me with her as she lay back on the bed so that I was on top of her. Our bodies were pressed together as we kissed and I could start to feel Leah's body moving against mine as it became more passionate. I pressed my leg between her legs where I know she wanted friction and I heard her moan into the kiss in response.

"It's my turn to repay the favour you know" I smirked down at her.

Leah looked flustered beneath me and her usually dominant exterior cracked slightly as I saw her blush. "Mmm yes it is."

I really did return the favour.. multiple times and we were a tangle of limbs, heavy breathing and moans. Eventually we fell asleep cuddled up to each other, my head on Leah's chest.

Bit of a longer chapter today to make up for the fact I'm not able to do very regular updates at the minute!

Any surprises from the World Cup announcement? 👀 still v sad for Leah and Beth but happy that people like Jordan and Beth England have made the squad - don't think they could've done much more to get chosen
