(Modern angst au. In which Hevy laments over his unrequited love for the reader as he's forced to watch her marry Echo.)
In the the small town community of Pabu Cove, there's an excited buzz in the air as friends and family gather far and wide for the upcoming wedding of Echo Fett and (Y/N) (y/l/n). Between months of preparations needed to be done and juggling hectic schedules, it was needless to say that everybody was stirring with eager anticipation for the happy event to arrive.
....... Everybody that is except for one.
Enter Hevy Fett. Second eldest of the groom's six brothers, ex-soldier, volunteer firefighter; Headstrong, fearless, and above all dedicated to serving his community as well as protecting his family.
However he harbours a dark secret he dare not tell anyone!
Hevy Fett was hopelessly and helplessly in love with Echo's bride-to-be!
She wants to married, she wants it perfect
She wants her granddaddy preaching the service.Yeah, she wants magnolias out in the country
Not too many people, save her daddy some money.Ooh! She got it all planned out.
Yeah, I can see it all right now.Even now as Hevy sat in his own little corner of the patio deck listening to Echo and (Y/N) discussing wedding plans while figuring out how to stay within their planned budget.
His other brothers each offer their own helpful suggestions on that matter to which the couple welcomely listen to. No they want a small wedding, nothing too big or fancy. Yes she's sure her grandfather will be willing to conduct the ceremony, she'll just have to call and ask if he's available to do so.
As she jotted some notes down in her pad, Hevy glared scornfully at the lovely engagement ring flashing underneath the sunlight from where it rested upon her finger. It was precious Fett family heirloom that Hevy had —in his own fantasy—wanted to give (Y/N) when he would propose to her.
But of course Echo had not only beat him to the punch of dating his dream girl, but had also proposed to (Y/N) with that very same little diamond ring!
Unable to stand listening to their wedding discussions any longer, Hevy mumbled something about claiming to have a headache before making a speedy getaway to his room where he promptly shut door. Once safely inside Hevy sank to the floor and drew his legs up to his chest and buried his head in his arms as bitter tears trickled down his face.
I put on my black suit, black tie hide out in the back. I'll do a strong shot of whiskey straight out of the flask.
I'll try to make through without crying so nobody sees.
Yeah, she wanna get married, but she don't want to marry me.I remember the night when I almost kissed her, Yeah I kinda freaked out, we've been friends forever.
And I'd always wonder if she felt the same way. When I got the invite, I knew it was too late!Tossing and turning restlessly in bed, Hevy groaned, kicking the sheets off himself as he finally gave up on sleep altogether. Grabbing his faded denim jacket from his closet, Hevy silently snuck downstairs so as to avoid waking up his sleeping brothers and slipped outside.
Meandering aimlessly down the streets Hevy shoved his hands deep into his pockets as the balmy spring breeze swept at his ebony curls. Upon approaching the white gazebo in the center of the park square Hevy plopped down unceremoniously onto it's wooden steps as he attempted to soothe his conflicted mind.
