My POV
After not hearing a single word from Striker for over a month, I had requested some time off to be alone. I stared at my messages I sent him, all left on 'unread' as I cried softly in my couch pillow. Hearing the familiar car horn of the I.M.P van I opened the door to see Millie and Moxxie frowning at me.
"Bastard..." I gritted my teeth with a sigh before nodding, "Give me a second." I ran to our bedroom and quickly got ready before meeting them back at the van.
"Are you sure about this?" Moxxie asked as I hopped in the back with Millie and checked my gun and dagger. "I don't want-"
"I'm sure Mox."
~
Stopping at a run-down gas station. Millie and I went to talk to folks to see if anyone had seen Striker.
"Howdy boys, you seen this mother fucker around here?" I smiled showing a picture of Striker and me.
As the four imps started to sing Mildred butted in waving her hands. "No! No singing! Just a yes or no, please."
"Yeah, He's been hunkering down over in the Bad man's land in the old train tunnel."
"Thanks, boys!" Mildred waved and we both ran back to the truck to see what Moxxie was up to before jumping in the van. "Come on! Let's go!"
~
"Hold on tight!" Moxxie shouted as we crashed into the top and started rolling down the cave walls towards the bottom where I opened the door up for Moxxie to aim at Striker.
"Kill?"
"Wound!" I hissed climbing out the back with Mildred. Seeing Striker cocky again, I scowled rolling my eyes before we snuck around the sides. Millie grabbed her axe and I waited to make sure Striker wasn't paying attention before nodding towards Millie to go after him.
The two of them faced off Striker giving them the edge while I kept up, always aiming my gun at Striker's shoulder just in case things started getting dicey and I did need to step in. It wasn't until Striker used his rope to throw a boulder at Millie and Moxxie and I saw him reaching for her Axe that I knew I had to step in.
"Millie!" I shouted, just as Striker's tail let go of the axe as it hurdled towards us and I threw Millie out of harm's way as Striker's and I's eyes met both in a panic as the axe hit me. I gasped for air seeing how the blade landed and I sat extremely still feeling some blood run down my neck. Any closer...
"Darlin'!?" Striker's voice was hitched and I looked at him in the most heartbreaking way I could and I shook my head trying to lift the axe away from me.
"You could have said no! You could have stopped this job!" I cried out, "Did you ever really love me!?"
Striker grabbed his hat, no longer focused on me as Millie helped grab the axe and told me to stay still.
"I'm fine." I hissed, standing up and wobbling towards Striker aiming my gun towards him in a blind fury. Seeing how badly I was injured Striker stepped away from Moxxie and ran towards me but Moxxie kicked Striker's leg and lassoed the rope around his neck swinging him in the path of the Striker statue Millie had knocked over.
Once the dust was settled, and it looked like Striker had gotten away once again I lay on the ground in tears as Millie and Moxxie went to check up on Stolas who was also badly hurt. I got up and helped them get Stolas into the van before we rushed to the Sloth ring desperate to get Stolas ok.
~
Arriving at the hospital, everyone rushed out to save Stolas while I limped in after them ready for my own treatment as Millie and Moxxie stayed behind to tell Blitz what happened. Stolas was kind enough to pay for my room as well due to my injuries being severe, and I made sure to get a room right next to his to still protect him while we were both in there.
I lay in bed staring at my phone crying softly as I swiped through Strikers and I's photos.
"Did you ever really love me!?"
The look on Striker's face told me he did, but with what he'd been doing I couldn't tell. I sighed and closed my eyes deciding to rest up. A few hours later I woke up, seeing my room pitch black, and figured it was night. I sat up and grabbed and reached for my phone to see something else sitting on my table.
Turning on the lamp, there were a dozen hell roses with a small note. I looked at my wrist seeing Striker's bandana wrapped around it and froze. Striker...had visited me. I swallowed the lump in my throat and grabbed my phone and the note in the roses.
I'm sorry Darlin'.
I smiled at the note, tears rolling down my face as I texted Striker.
"Thank you."
My eyes widened in surprise as Striker began to text back before it dropped and I sighed. I set my phone down and curled up looking at the roses.
What would happen to us now?
