"Hello?"
"Jess?"
"Yeah?"
"Jess where are you?"
"I'm just at the beach, but I'm coming h-"
"Come home."
"Um okay. I lov-"
He hung up on me.

What the fuck?

I sighed and walked to my car. Turning on the engine, I turned the dial on the radio so the music is blaring. Putting on my favourite CD, I skip to track 9.
Settle Down - The 1975
I sing along all the way home and seriously consider playing the song to Nick. Honestly, what was his problem? He really needs to settle down.

I pull into the carpark and take the steps 2 at a time. I open the door to our apartment to find Nick sitting on the couch, his posture impeccable, which is unusual for him. I shut the door quietly behind me as I realise he's starring at the wall. The T.V. isn't even on.

I approach him quietly, "Nick?"
He turns immediately and I see his face is red. No surprises there. He was mad, clearly.
"Hello, Jessica."
I take a seat next to him and try to read his expression as his eyes stay glued to mine. His face is emotionless.
"Um, hi?"
"Why did you go to the beach hm?"
"Because I love the beach, you know that," I slow my words down, I know he's mad and I don't want to make him worse.
"Well, you could've told me."
"I'm not a child, I don't need to tell you where I'm going or what I'm doing."
His eyes ignite with more anger and I immediately regret my choice of words.
"Look I'm sorry okay I just wanted to go to the beach to get some sun and relax," I breathe out, reaching for his hand which is on his thigh. He jerks his hand away and I wince. That hurt more than any words he's ever said. He's never rejected my displays of affection.
"You should have told me. I was worried!"
"I know that and I'll tell you from now on okay?" If it was that important to Nick, I was willing to try it.

His expression softens and he slouches a little bit. A small, yet reassuring sign of his calming down.
"I'm sorry too Jess."
I smile as he takes my hand and moves to sit directly next to me. He rests his head on my shoulder and I kiss his forehead as I tell him about my day and classes.

We talk for hours until I end up telling him some more childhood stories. His head moves to my lap and I hear his breathing become heavier as he falls asleep. I hold his hand tightly and run the fingers of my free hand through is hair. I know he's asleep, but I keep talking. He murmurs in his sleep and I smile to myself. Although he's so tall, he's pretty much harmless and extremely cute. I really did love him.

I feel myself begin to fall asleep as the room grows darker from lack of sunlight. I'm almost asleep when I hear an almighty bang against our front door. Nick jerks awake and stands protectively over the top of me. There's another bang and I scream, jumping up and wrapping my arms around Nick and burying my face in his back for some kind of comfort. I receive none. His arm is on my waist, even though I'm behind him, as though he wants me to stay behind him. I oblige with no argument.

One more bang sounds and the front door slams open. I glance around Nick, still gripping him tightly around his torso. There stands a man of around 22 years old, with a bandana covering his mouth and nose so only his eyes are visible. He dressed in black, from head to toe, and I suspected he had a gun hidden under his petticoat. My suspicions were confirmed.

Pulling a gun from his jacket and shutting the door behind him, the man walks towards us and Nick tightens his grip on my waist to keep me from moving too far from him.
"Give me all your money!" the man screams, waving his gun at us. Something is vaguely familiar here... but where could I have possibly seen this man?
"Look, mate, why don't you just calm down..."
"Don't tell me to calm down dickhead! Give me all your..." the man stops and looks down, lowering his gun. He begins to think, as do I. I know this man's hair. How could I not have realised before?

The black tangled mess brings me to my senses as I realise that Matty Healy is robbing me. Well, attempting to anyway. I don't know whether to be excited or terrified.
"You're..you're Matty Healy!" I squeak as comprehension draws upon me.
He looks at me curiously, bending around Nick from a distance so he can see me. Nick pushes me out of sight of the man.
"Actually, give me the girl or I'll put a bullet through your head!" Matty screams, putting the gun to Nick's head as he lets go of me and puts his hands up in defeat.

I know I should be fuming, but I'm not. I don't blame Nick at all for giving me up. After all, I would be fine eventually right? Nick would try to find me, wherever I was going to be taken.
Matty reaches around Nick, still pushing the gun to his head, and grabs my arm. I speak in pain as his pale fingers push against my slightly tanned skin. I get dragged to the door, but before I can be dragged out, I say goodbye to Nick.
"I love you!" I scream as tears rush down my cheeks. I see Nick crying also as he stands in the middle of the lounge room, completely incapable of doing anything.
"I love you too! And I will find you, I swear!"
I send him a weak smile as I leave the apartment for the very last time, my arm aching from Matty's grip as he takes me away from the love of my life, who has tears streaming down his face and a frown plastered on his gorgeous face.
