When I was 12 years old, some old friends of mine were playing a simple game of tag. Man how I wished that I could head back to those good ol' times.
"Tag! You're it!" A child in this flashback announced.
"Hey, no fair!" Young Eckhart jokingly complained. He chased after his friends as they ran towards a pipeline that climbed up the school's walls towards the roof.
The flashback children started to climb up towards the roof and stand on top of it. As young Eckhart reached the pipe, he started to climb it. He was always afraid of heights which never helped once. He applied force towards the wall as he wrapped his arms around the pipe. As he was making his way up, the others decided it would be funny to start shaking the pipe.
"Stop that!" Young Eckhart pleaded. The others just kept doing it. This was really triggering Eckhart, he started to be more determined than he ever was and climbed up the pole and once he got up......
"Boy Eckhart, you're such a wu- OOWWW!!!" Exclaimed one of the past boys as Young Eckhart punch him in his face. He started to bleed a little from the nose and was working up a waterfall of tears. The other kids were stunned at what happened. Young Eckhart then realized what he had just done.
He then climbed back down and ran back home because he didn't want to get caught. He looked back once but didn't see his friends. He had turned a corner before looking back. The last faces on his friends were hurt and scared. Something he didn't want to see lastly on someone's face.
He ran home and barged through his front door. This gathered his family's attention. His mother's especially. She went downstairs towards his room and opened the door. She found her son laying on his stomach with his head in his pillow. She walked to his bed and sat down.
"Eckhart? What happened?" She asked. He only continued crying in his pillow while hiccuping as he breathed in. His mother massaged her hand on his back. This calmed down Eckhart slightly and he finally got up.
"My friends a- are.... JERKS!" He expressed in satisfied anger.
"What happened?" His mother asked.
"They scared me while I was climbing a pipe!" Eckhart said.
"How? And what are you guys doing climbing up a pipe?"
"We thought it'd be fun on the schools roof."
"On the school's roof? You all could've been in trouble!"
"I know but as I climbed up they shook the pipe and I almost fell down."
"That's why you're upset?"
"No. I hit Axel and scared the others."
My mother had no response other than pulling me in for a tight hug and held me close. I closed my eyes and calmed down. My father knocked on the door as it was wide open.
"Hey kiddo. Everything alright?" He said.
"Better now." I replied.
I fell sleep within my mother's arms and slept hard.
