Chapter 14: Let's be friends

Three Years Back

'Let's cut the introduction and get to the good parts and then lets freeze there because now

that I know it; the ending scares me'

A brown haired petite girl walked into the classroom, her books hugging to her chest and her head dropped low. Her entrance seemed to have fazed the one person at the back seat as the brunette stared at the girl in amusement. A cute and shy nerd; nah not a nerd.

She takes a seat right beside the brunette; all the seats being occupied. Her mind flooded with thoughts about nothing but studies, facts. She was the girl that came to learn. No fun, but apparently her neighbor had other thoughts.

"Hey, psst" the brunette nudges her only five minutes into the lesson and she ignores it. She knew these type of girls that didn't have a care in the world. They didn't care about grades because they had no pressure. Their lives were perfect and she didn't want to know them for the sake of her own insecurities coming to the surface. So she ignored her. Well for as long she could because her neighbor seemed hell bent on getting her attention.

Was this girl for real?

"What?" She asks irritated and the brunette giggles at her, like literally giggles.

"I'm Lily" She says once she is done giggling

"And why should I care?" Is the irritated answer which is shrugged off by another laugh but there for a split second the new girl notices the flash of hurt in Lily's eyes but it doesn't last long and is soon replaced by an almost practiced glimmer.

"Because I sit beside you" Lily says like she had just stated a great fact and discovered something new. Something was seriously was wrong with this girl.

"No shit, Sherlock" Bluntly replied to and eyes back to the lesson.

"What's your name?" Lily asks again

"Sam" she sighs deeply "You done now?"

"Oh no, I'm just getting started, but fifty points to your Hogwarts house for your breathing techniques" Lily smirks and for a moment Sam looks at her amused, it's like she isn't irritating anymore but seems much more interesting. Almost genuine.

"Her name is Sam" Lily starts off trying to sound like she is rapping "She built a water dam!"

"What?" Sam chuckled at the innocent statement, she almost sounded like a child. Trying to please her elders and hoping she would make them laugh and believe it or not, it was working. She was almost to the point where you could think the person you were looking at was happy and Sam had missed that. Looking at someone happy that had a glitter in their eyes and had hope. Someone who could make you laugh without even trying and someone who cared enough to irritate you. She looked younger because she had it better but it was a fantasy, right? Having life better at you. Wish the world worked that way. But for a moment there it was as if worries were nothing and as if pretending that everything was good was the easiest thing in the world. Sam thought this girl could be the first great that happened to her but she was scared of actually being the worst thing happening to the cheery face in front of her. But boy was she wrong.

"Excuse me? Are you both done?" The teacher looks at them stern faced and Lily holds backs a laugh, not succeeding; I'll give you that.

"Detention both of you" And with that the teacher turns around both the new friends lightly chuckle behind his back.

There go my plans of being focused on studies
