Bonding

50th day of being captain
Captains POV- "Sir, you are needed on the deck." I quickly shoved a cookie in my mouth and floated into the elevator. Auto really needs to warn me about popping in and out.

The elevator doors swung open and I glided right next to auto, who was adjusting the temperature. "You needed me?" I asked auto. He quickly turned around and i jumped a little. It's been awhile since I became the captain, why am I still a little nervous around him?

Auto pointed to a flashing button next to him. I faced the button and pushed it. The lights went out and a hologram video popped up. I glided over to see what it was about, auto following me.

"Well hello captain! If you are seeing this then it is your 50th day being in charge of the Axiom! To celebrate, I think you and your trustee AUTOPILOT need some time to recharge and....bond! This will be the first ever bond time! It is a new program we are doing. Yes, this is completely optional but I do recommend it! It would be a great way for you and AUTOPILOT to get to know each other."

"What-"

"Don't worry, a special emergency AUTOPILOT 2.0 will handle the ship. There is a button next to the one you pushed that releases it and rails for auto. Oh and autopilot, there is an button on your console that allows extra length. See you later!"

The video hologram disappeared and the lights came on. What was that about? Bonding? I mean it would be nice to hang out....I don't think auto would want to though, I mean he is so just....idk not the type to do that kind of-

"CAPTIN."

"Oh sorry auto, I just spaced out." Auto turned his wheel a bit. "So uh, auto...what do you think?" I asked with an uncomfortable tone. Auto just stared at me, with that big red eye. I could tell he was adjusting it. "Do you want to do it?" I asked again.
" Affirmative."
I could not even tell if he was joking or not, I mean this is THE autopilot. "Right then, let's do this." Auto did a quick little nod and turned away and went to the button and pressed it. A huge wheel came out under of the desk and saluted to me and auto and turned around. I looked about of the window and there were rails everywhere. Literally everywhere. Auto then pressed the button on his console.

"Are you ready sir?" Auto asked. I smiled and nodded. We both got into the elevator and I got to admit, it is really cramped in here. We reached the bottom floor and we exited. The typing bot looked very confused. I mean, it's not everyday the pilot leaves his quarters.

We were about to open the doors when auto stopped.

"Auto?" I asked. Auto looked down. "Sir?" He asked looking at me. "Yes?" I replied. A few minutes passed when he finally said, "I am scared."

I looked at auto with a supportive gaze. I never knew that auto could be scared, it is his first time leaving the deck. "It will be ok, ok?" Auto turned his wheel. "Okay sir." I smiled and we opened the door. Auto looked very surprised ,even if we can't see it.

"We're to?" I asked auto. Auto turned to me and I noticed that he was shaking a little and I could not bare seeing him like this. "How about....a train ride." "Aye Aye." I smiled again and we headed to the train station. There were some odd looks from passengers but most were glued to their screens.

We hopped on and the train started to move. Auto almost opened his taser afraid that something is gonna happen to them. I gave auto a reassuring nod and he put it away. We just enjoyed the view. It felt nice leaving the deck.

We hopped off the train and headed to the cafeteria. "So....how was the train ride?" "Alarming." I let out a little sigh and got a burger in a cup. We "sat" down at a table in silence. I noticed that auto does not have anything. What do robots eat? Oil? Maybe oil...yeah....let's get him some oil.

I asked for a cup of oil and brought it to auto. "Hey auto?" "Yes captain?" He asked. "I got you some oil." Auto looked confused. I knew it..he feeds off of his charger in the deck stupid!

"Much obliged."

I nodded sadly and finished off my lunch. Auto was just holding the cup and Turing his handles like he was driving the ship.
We finished our drinks and we headed to the pool. Auto ofc, stayed very far from the water.

"How is your day so far?" I asked. " superb sir." He responded pretty quickly. "Ima check out the area ok?" "Aye-....aye sir." I kinda felt bad about leaving auto but I really wanted to check out the lido deck.

It's been about 10-ish minutes, I should probably head back to auto. "Hey a-" holy cow...

Auto was literally surrounded by passengers trying to get pictures and answers. Some even videoing him.

"What's the captain like?"

"Classified."

"It it true that his name is mccrea?"

"Classified."

"How are you down here?"

"Classified."

"WHO IS DRIVING THE SHIP."

"Classified."

"Everyone, leave." I said in a polite voice. Someone asked a question that made auto really mad. Auto looked like he really wanted to tase them. "I said. Everyone fucking LEAVE."  The passengers quickly zoomed off in their hover chairs.

"I am so sorry auto! I shouldn't have left you-" "Please forget it sir."

Man, auto seems pretty down. Maybe if we do something he likes he can lighten up.

"What do you like to do auto?" Auto turned his wheel and a buzzing sound was made. He turned his wheel again and the buzzing stopped. "Space."

"I don't understand auto...space?"   "affirmative."

"Auto, we can't go out into spa-"  then it clicked. I smiled and floated away, auto following.

We finally reached out destination, the window.

Auto seemed to relax now. He lowered himself almost to the floor, so I lowered the chair. "It's beautiful auto, I can see why you love space." " Affirmative sir."

Hours passed it seemed like of us just talking and getting lost into the beautiful stars and galaxies.

"I think it is time to head back Auto." "Aye Aye sir." Auto raised himself up and so did I.

We finally got back into the deck. Auto pressed the button and the AUTOPILOT 2.0 slides back into the desk and the rails disappear. I click the extra extension button for auto. "Greatly appreciated." I nodded and then asked, "How was it?" Auto, who was now turning the ship said, "formidable. How about you sir?" He asked. "Great! It's nice to get out sometimes." Auto gave a beep and turned to the control panel. "It is very late sir, you should rest."

Auto turned arrow on the screen to nighttime. "Are you sure auto?" I asked. He's always doing the work. Auto nodded. "Good night captain." I smiled. "Good night auto." It really is nice to get out sometimes...
