I never forget (almost)

As she was walking over, she saw Constance say something very quietly to her friend. "Hi..." Ocean didn't know what to say. Years after the kiss she kept on thinking about what she would say if she ever met Constance again, but she couldn't think of a single thing to say now. "Well, thats my cue to go" the girl stood up, took her bag and walked quickly out the door, leaving her chair for Ocean to sit down.

"Well, this isn't how i was expecting to meet you again" Constance looked pretty mad, which was freaking Ocean out, because Constance almost never looked mad. "Constance, ive missed you so much!!" Constance still looked mad, and Ocean was starting to think it was because of her. "Why did you never even reach out, or respond to any of my messages!? Ive sent you so many on everything, and you didn't even say goodbye to me before you moved, and you show up like "Constance, ive missed you so much". Yeah, me too, why did you never respond?!"

Ocean was in shock. All the things she imagined would happen, this definitely wasn't it. "My parents took my phone and deleted all your contacts, even your social media" Constance looked like she was thinking alot. Ocean thought she looked more sad than she did before. "I Think we need to talk". Ocean nodded. "You're right, ill tell the people i came here with"

Ocean walked over to Noel and Ricky, and she could tell that they had definitely been looking and listening in on her and Constance's conversation. Before she even said anything, Noel said: "don't worry, we heard all that. Go and talk to her, i hope you arent as fucked as it sounds like you are" he said, laughing a bit before he noticed she looked slightly mad. "Thanks, Im against swear words though, you don't need them to express yourself" Ocean smiled politely, but Noel looked extremely annoyed.

She walked over to Constance again, and they started walking. "Okay, lets go to the dorm of my college and talk?".
"Sure" Ocean smiled after, trying to make Constance look at her in an at least not negative way, but she just looked away again. They made it back to the College, and Ocean followed Constance to her dorm. They sat down on the bed and there was silence for a couple of seconds.
"Why are you still mad at me, ive already explained to you why i never contacted you"

Constance was silent, then she finally said something.

"Do you really want me to tell you? Ive realized how horrible you were to me. No matter how nice i were to you, you always treated me horribly. You pushed me around, and you only hung out with me because i was the easiest to get to do what you want with no complaint. I would've been happy if i never saw you again"

Ocean was silent. She had absolutely no idea what to say, but she had to try.
"Ive thought about that alot, how i treated you, you know? I was a total narcissist and i was too blind to see how bad i was treating you. I really regret it, and i want you to know that. You obviously dont have to talk to me at all, i would get that after how ive treated you".

Constance looked surprised, like that wasn't the answer she was expecting.
"What have you been up to since you moved?" Ocean thought about it. The truth Would be: "oh nothing much, just having an identity crisis and starting to hate my past self, so nothing big", but that probably wasn't the appropriate thing to say in this situation. "Well, remember that i did art sometimes?" Constance nodded. "Yeah, you were pretty good at it". She still wasn't smiling, but she didn't look sad or angry, so Ocean counted it as a win. "Im actually here for their art program!" Ocean said and smiled. "Oh yeah, by the way, why do you go here and not one of those famous colleges you always talked about going to?"

Ocean took a slow breath in and out to calm herself down. "I don't have good enough grades for that anymore. After i left, my grades dropped alot. I only got B's and stuff, my parents weren't fans of it. I didn't really have anything else to do so i did more art, and now i want to do it for a job someday, so since i couldn't go to one of those colleges my parents wish so much that i got into, i picked what i wanted to do for a change. Ive changed alot since then, and i really hope we can still be friends?" She looked at Constance sweetly, and she got a smile back.

"Of course Ocean, ive obviously missed you alot too. Ill give you another chance" Constance looked much happier than before, like a weight was taken off her shoulders. Ocean was relieved, she was scared that she was finally gonna see Constance again, only for her to hate her forever. There was silent for something that felt like an eternity, but was probably just a couple of seconds, before Constance said:
"Okay, time to restart out friendship. Do you wanna watch a movie together or something?" Ocean laughed quietly. "Id love to, what do you wanna watch Connie?" Ocean looked at Constance. She could see she was thinking about it. "Do you wanna watch heathers the musical, like in the old days?" Ocean smiled. "Oh yeah, most definitely" Constance went over to her desk and got her laptop, and they sat down on Constances bed and started watching.

After they were done watching it, they had talked about anything and everything. Their roomates, Ocean talked all about Ricky, and how cool she thought they were, and Constance talked about her new roommate Penny, and how she found her a bit weird but very sweet and smart. Ocean felt a bit sad hearing her talk about her like that, she didn't think about it though. "Its like 9pm, i think that means you have to go back to your dorm now" Ocean looked dissapointed, Constance was right, but she had completely lost track of time. She forgot how much she loved being With Constance. How happy she'd make her feel. Constance followed her back to her dorm, but when she got closer to the door she could see there was a note on it:

To Ocean:
Sleeping over at Noels room today, since his roommate isn't there today. Just lock yourself in :)

Ocean sighed and put her hand into her pocket, trying to find her keys, but they weren't there. She checked all her pockets twice, but no key. Then she realized:
"Oh shit, that's what i felt like i had forgotten. When we left to go to the café!!!" She looked at Constance, not knowing what to do. "Thats kinda funny; do you remember that time back in Uranium when you forgot your keys, but you insisted that you did it on purpose because you "never forget". Did you also do it on purpose this time Ocean? Be honest". Constance said the last thing jokingly, and Ocean laughed. "I never forget, ALMOST" Constance laughed, then thought for a second. "You can sleep over at my dorm if you'd like, Penny texted me earlier, she's driving to her friends college to visit him tonight, so she wont be home until like right when school starts. I told her not to pull an allnighter, and to just visit her friend in the weekend, but she didn't really listen"
Ocean smiled.

"Thank you so much Constance, without you i'd have to start trying to find Noels dorm and get Rickys keys and then walk all the way back. Constance gave her thumbs-up. "Yeah, no problem" they walked back to Constances dorm. "Its only like 9pm, so im not really tired" Ocean said. "Yeah, Im not really sleepy either" there was silence for way too long.

"Ocean, we need to talk about what happened that night"
Ocean was caught off guard. She knew this moment would come, but she didn't think it would come so quick.
"Yeah, i know. I want you to know, that i was in no way pranking you or making fun of you or something, i really did like you, i just didn't know how to tell you" Constance nodded.
"Its okay Ocean, i liked you too. I was just completely shocked. First of all, i didn't know you were gay, so i was really confused as to why you did it. Second of all, i was kind of in denial about liking girls. I thought alot about it back then, and i realized i was bisexual, but something in my brain said "maybe i should just date guys and ignore it, to make it easier", but being gay doesn't really work like that, you know"

Ocean sat there and took it all in, she didn't really know what to say. Constance had liked her back? That didn't make sense at all. She really wasn't ready to think about all of that now though.
"Hey, Im pretty hungry; Are you?" Ocean looked at Constance, waiting for her answer
"Sure, i could go for a snack!"
"Okay great, because my new roommate Ricky showed me this great ice cream store, Its open 24/7. Wanna go there? They've got lemon sorbet, your favoriteeee" Constance agreed. "Totally, id love some ice cream right now"

They took their jackets and shoes on and started walking towards the store. They got there, ordered their ice cream, and ate it while walking back. When they were at the dorm, Constance was done with her ice cream, Ocean wasn't even halfway done.
"Oh my god, you are still the slowest eater ever, like its actually insane" Constance laughed after saying it, and so did Ocean, even though she had ice cream in her mouth. When Ocean was finally done eating, it was 10pm, and they decided to get ready for bed. Ocean borrowed one of Constances long t-shirts to sleep in. They both slept in Constance's bed, since Constance Said that Penny would maybe come back earlier than expected, and she wasn't here to say yes to her bed being borrowed, so Constance would feel bad about it. They both crawled into bed, and Ocean feel asleep very quickly.
