Summer Nights
The next morning it was Isabel's birthday I woke up early enough to help and to prepare her birthday. I met the mums downstairs at 7:30am to start decorating and starting the cake. With a groan I got out of bed, I hated waking up early, especially the getting up part. The sun was already up which helped a lot and I smiled into the distance to where the water hit the beach. With quiet steps I walked out of my room to the bathroom, the whole house was still quiet. To wake myself up I decided to take a short shower and a cold one.
While showering I thought back to Conrad and I. It was weird. I knew that he wanted to apologise which I am glad about because I couldn't have bad tensions with him. It was summer, I thought it was going to be a legendary summer without any stupid fights. But he still needed to actually say it or I wouldn't forgive him. That he didn't had the courage pissed me off and while thinking about it I was getting mad at him again.
After the shower which turned from cold to hot and short to long, I walked freshly dressed downstairs to the kitchen. The mums were already in the kitchen and Laurel was making Belly's Mickey Mouse pancakes.
"Morning." I said and first got a cup for coffee.
"Morning. Honey can you help me with the table?" My mum asked.
"Sure." I took a sip of my coffee and sat it down again, it was still way too hot.
"How was your date?" Mum asked me.
"Oh very good!" I said and told her about the movie we were watching. She smiled at me happily the whole time.
While we were still preparing the boys came one after one. Conrad was the first. He avoided me and sat down at the kitchen island without saying anything, just eating his cereal. I was glad, I didn't want to talk to him either.
"Sophie, do you mind and get Belly out of bed?" Laurel asked as I was sitting with Jeremiah and Steven at the kitchen island and ate some cereal.
"Laur let her sleep in." Susannah rolled her eyes and then smiled at me.
"But the pancakes get cold." Laurel protested.
"Yeah I'm going." I said and walked out of the kitchen. But Belly was already up and I met her on the stairs. "Belly!!!" I hugged her tight. "Happy birthday!"
"Thank you!" She smiled and I pulled her to the kitchen.
"I love your dress. It's so pretty." I told her as I looked at her colourful flower dress.
"Thanks. You can borrow it if you want to."
"Oh yes! Thank you." I nodded.
"Good morning everyone!" Belly walked in with a huge smile on her face.
"Happy birthday!!" Susannah came first to hug her and then Jeremiah. While they hugged her I went to the table, on my way there I looked at Conrad but he was really focused on his cereal in front of him.
