┊͙✧˖ IVY RUSHES OUT OF THE party at around three in the morning, straight back into the black car and headed towards the train station. She takes her shoes off in the back of the car, and Esme takes them for her. Ivy has never felt this relieved to leave a party — but for now, her Games are over, and she can go home.

The Capitol roars with celebration as they drive through it. She's exhausted from all this celebration, she can't see anything worth celebrating.

Esme is somewhat tipsy from the party, having had one too many glasses of champagne, whereas Ivy had made sure to restrict herself to only one glass. Esme lets out a loud laugh, her long, dark hair contrasting against her radiant smile. "Oh, wasn't that just amazing?" Esme says, a little louder than she usually talks.

"Yes," Ivy agrees, despite not really thinking so. "It was." Her thoughts are not on the present moment, and even as she looks out the window at the aura of decadence and excess that lingers in the city, the moon reflecting softly against the streets, she is thinking of home. Being in the fields of Nine again; reuniting with her parents. She is sure they will be overjoyed to see her, and she hopes the same goes for Marigold.

They reach the train station soon, and Ivy is so relieved when she is finally back in the familiar bedroom of the train she had first arrived in the Capitol in. As soon as she closes her bedroom door behind her, she slips off her long dress, opting for more comfortable clothing. She brushes out her hair, pulling it into a tight ponytail, before heading to the bathroom to viciously scrub the thick makeup off of her face. Esme agreed that Ivy could make her homecoming outfit more simple and natural, to which Ivy was eternally grateful for. She had had enough of ivy dresses and makeup and stiletto high heels.

Ivy nearly collapses onto her bed once she has removed all the makeup that is willing to be washed away, some eyeliner still lingering, albeit smudged from Ivy's persistent scrubbing. The early hour of the morning fatigues Ivy, and she is sure that everyone back home will be sleeping anyway. They'll arrive in Nine at around eight, so Ivy is sure she'll only really be able to get a few hours of sleep before Esme wakes her up to get ready and eat breakfast. As she thought, Esme wakes her up at exactly eight, with breakfast in bed (even though Esme herself says she has a bit of a headache), and afterwards gets her ready for the homecoming to her district.

Ivy closes her eyes as Esme works quickly on her makeup — she is wearing a baby blue dress, one that's more simple. The homecoming from the Games itself isn't as big of an event as the Victory Ceremony, and Ivy basks in her appreciation of being able to wear simple clothes for once. She wears a pair of matching blue ballet flats, a stark contrast to the heels they usually make her wear in the Capitol. Ivy is happy to be in flat shoes again — she feels tall enough as is, and does not see the need for heels by any means.
