Celtic Fairy Music - Dance of the Fairies

*I recommend including songs from the comments to set the atmosphere.*

There was rather rhythmic music on the lawn, under the moon and the stars, and when you heard it, you would start reflecting the rhythm with your foot or your body without paying attention. I used to think that only faeries liked this kind of music, but elves favored more quiet music, but as it turned out, they have a love for such tunes, too. It was all quite enchanting.

The elves swirled in the center of the clearing, changing partners at regular intervals. They were like butterflies flying in the air, their movements were just as light and enchanting, and the light from the lanterns gave them a certain appeal. One could watch this for eternity.

Here, Dael and Amalti dancing in the midst of everyone, they looked only at each other, as if everyone around them was some kind of noise in the background. Idril and Canis also danced together and exchanged some phrases, after which the elfess covered her thin hand with a little smile. It was an evening full of tranquility for all.

I decided to skip a few of these dances and watch the moves so I could try them myself later.

As my eyes roamed to the different couples, they met an elf standing as if in the shadow of one of the trees nearby. His gaze was focused somewhere in the sky, giving his face a pensive look. There stood Legolas. He was leaning back against the tree, and it looked as if he wasn't here, but only a shell.

From the other end of the clearing, I could see his blue eyes, which shifted their gaze from something celestial directly toward me. Legolas stared at me calmly for a few minutes, and then raised one eyebrow and gave me a sarcastic "Is something wrong?" look. I immediately started looking at the dancers. After he looked at me, it was like a herd of goosebumps ran through my body.

- Feinlas, there's another tune coming up, come with us, or you'll be here the rest of the night! - Idril and Canis approached me.

- This time, you have my word, as soon as the new tune plays, then I'll go straight to the dance," I put my hand on my heart and answered the two elves confidently.

- Oh, and now it's time to make good on my promise! - Idril heard the change in tune and came up to me and with a nudge on my shoulder sent me toward the dancing crowd.

As I watched the dancers, I remembered that first they all stood in a circle and spun around until a new wave of upward movement in the song began. Then, they would make pairs, and for those who couldn't find pairs, they would stand in another circle not far from the main one and dance, too. But in all the time of my observations it was only once, and not for long, because the participants soon found a partner. Magic is alive.

As I adjusted to the circle of elves, I became one of the waves of that river. Everyone felt like one in the dance. Their movements were quite simple, so I could dance along with them. Next to me was Idril, catching every note of the song and charging the energy around me. And so we danced onward in a circle, as here, the transition for becoming pairs began.

The elves began to approach the elves, holding out their hand in anticipation of a positive response from the chosen ellette, and as soon as their hands touched, they became in the still unfinished main circle of pairs. As I watched Idril and Canis join hands with the others, a strong palm appeared beside me. The hope in my heart was that it would be Legolas...
