The next morning I awoke to the sweet sound of birds chirping next to my window, the sun shone so bright that I thought I was going to go blind. I came in late the night before and my parents were pissed, but I'm almost 18 now, which means I am ALMOST an adult so I can basicaly do whatever I want. No I really can't, not when I'm living under their roof. I quickly got showered and hopped downstairs.

"Goodmorning!" I smiled sweetly as I entered the kitchen. My mom was reading one of her romance novels, dad was reading the newspaper, my sister Anna was study for midterms, my older brother was most likely still asleep, and younger brother Danny was eating...MY CEREAL!

"Goodmorning!" my parents said simoustaneously, but neither of them looked up. As I sat down to eat, my dad started talking about the rules of this house.

"On school nights, you are not allowed to come in after 11!" he started. I figured I might as well ignore him since he gave me this speech last night. He can be so annoying sometimes. Ten minutes later when was done blabbling, I grabbed my things and walked out, I got in my convertible and drived out of the drive way. I was relieved to get away from that house. When I pulled up at Bianca's house, I noticed she was sitting on the steps, reading Seventeen Magazine. I honked the horn and she looked up and quickly ran over to the car, while she was running she tripped over something and almost fell on her face. I busted out laughing, when she entered the car I stopped and tried to hide my smile as best as I can.

"Hopefully no one saw that!" she smiled. I started laughing again.

"I called your house last night at aound 10, can you explain to me where you were?" she asked, as we drove down her street. I tried my hardest to ignore the question, but she didn't make it easy for me.

"Aaaaaaavery," she sang annoyingly, "Tell me now!" I tried not to smile as I ignored her and just kept driving.

"Avery Isabella Johnson!" she shouted seriously, "WHERE WERE YOU?!" Finally I burst out laughing and told her the whole story from start to finish.

"OMIGOD!" she screamed, "He is, like, totally in love with you! To the lists!" she squealed excitedly. I graoned, 'to the lists' was Bianca's way of saying we had to psychoanalyze Jesse's every move and see if he matched the characteristics on my list.

"Do we haaave tooo?" I whined. I hated doing this!

"Yes." she stated matter of factly. I kept complaining all the way to our lockers, but she just laughed. I turned to walk to first period, when I tripped over a backpack and smack into somebody else.

"Omigod I'm so sorry..." I trailed off when I saw who it was.

"Whoaa there Miss Johnson," Jesse teased,"if you really wanted to fall into my arms you didn't have to risk injuring yourself," he finished, winking.

I glared at him even though I could feel the blush creeping onto my cheeks, "Sorry Mister James!" I said looking away quickly.

"It's fine Avery," He teased, "Just try to resist my charm, we don't need you really hurting yourself," He finished with laughter in his tone. I blushed bright red and shook my head and started walking away.

When I walked into History, there was only one seat left. Right next to my bastard ex. I groaned as he excitedly waved me over, turning my back to him as soon as I sat down.

Wes sighed, "Avery, you're going to have to talk to me sometime," he said matter of factly. I continued to ignore him. I sure as hell do NOT have to talk to him, and I don't plan on doing so either.

"Aves...." Wes trailed off. That was the last straw. He used to call me Aves when we went out.

"Do NOT call me that," I snapped, "and while we're writing a list on things for you NOT to do, how about we add talking to me and ever thinking that I have to talk to you on it, okay?"

Wes looked unfazed by my little outburst, "Babe, it's okay that you're upset. But when you're ready to grow up and talk to me about what happened, I'll be happy to end this little break we're taking."

"BABE? LITTLE? BREAK? ME GROW UP? HOW ABOUT YOU GROW UP YOU NO GOOD LYING CHEATING HEARTBREAKING BASTARD! I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL -" I was interrupted by the sound of my always boring history teacher's voice.

"Miss Johnson, Mister James, is there a problem here?" he asked.

"Hell yeah," I answered uncaringly,"this psycho over here has gotten it into his head somehow that we're taking a 'break' in this relationship. I was just letting him know that we are DONE!!!!" I finished angrily.

"Get out of my class!" the teacher ordered," I will NOT tolerate that kind of language! You are in a classroom Miss Johnson, act like it."

"Whatever," I muttered, stomping out of the class. I can't believe he kicked me out and let that smug little asshole stay in class. A few minutes later he came out and escorted me to the Vice Principal's office.  When I walked into the main  office,  Jesse was standing there flirting with our slutty secretary. That definitely did not help my mood. I ignored his questioning gaze and just angrily pushed open the door to the VP's room, ready to tune out his lecture.

"Have a seat Miss Johnson," He ordered," care to tell me what brings you to my office?" he said.

"Wellllll," I drawled out," I may have gotten into a screaming match with my stupid ex boyfriend and then cursed at my jerk of a history teacher," I explained.

He sighed,"You'll have to start serving detentions, you know that right? "

"But I already have detention the rest of the week with Mister James!" I whined.

"Well then you'll have morning detentions with him too!" the Vice Principal replied. He ignored my protests and told me to get to class. I walked out and got a pass from the slut-er I mean secretary and made my way to English.

When I got there I handed Jesse my pass and walked to a corner seat in the back of the class. Today was so not a participation day. Unfortunately, Jesse appearently didn't get that memo. He kept calling on me all class long, except today I really didn't have the energy to snap at him. My fight with Wes had me totally emotionally strained. I don't know what it is about him, but even when we're not together and I hate him, he has this power over me to make me so angry and feel so vulnerable at the same time. I raised my hand and asked for a pass to the bathroom. Jesse gave it to me, with a concerned look at the unshed tears in my eyes but I just shook my head and left. I quickly made my way to the bathroom, glad that I had gotten off crutches last night. I was crying in the only single stall bathroom in the school when I heard a knock at the door.

"Someones in here," I called out in a raspy voice, wiping the tears away.

"Avery, let me in," I heard Jesse call.

"Umm, no!" I said, "I'll be back to class in a second."

Jesse sighed, "Let me in now or I'll go get a key from the janitor," he warned seriously.

I sighed and unlocked the door, wrapping my arms around myself as he walked in,"What do you want," I sniffed. Jesse didn't even answer me, closing and locking the door behind himself before walking over to me.

I immediatly started backing away, "Jes-Mister James stop," I said.

"Stop." He ordered. I immediatly stopped moving, just standing there and waiting for his next move.

Jesse sighed frustratedly, running his hands through his perfect hair,"Trust me." He insisted, looking me dead in the eyes.I lost all control, sobbing as he held me close.

"Shhh, its okay. Its okay," Jesse cooed, stroking my hair and holding me tight. I started calming down and  looked up at him through my tears. He stroked my cheek and looked at me, moving closer until we were inches away.

I cleared my throat, "Thank you," I croaked out.

"Anytime," he breathed. My heart started beating faster as he looked at me intensely.

"Jesse, I-" I was cut off.
