Emily's POV

After about an hour of unpacking i decided to take a break and explore the room. i set down my bag and walked over to the closet. It wasn't to big and it wasn't to small. I closed the door and made my way to the window seat and looked at the bookshelves. The one on the left had a shelf and a half full of books. I scanned through them and they seemed interesting so i might try and read some. i look out the window and see a few of the kids that live in the neighborhood riding bike, playing soccer, football and other sports, or just hanging out.

some one that really stood out was a curly haired boy with thick framed glasses. he was talking to a small group of boys laughing and just being normal teenagers. i looked from them to another small group of younger kids. i smiled at how everyone seemed to get along. i looked from the window and back to my bags. i looked at my watch to see i had an hour before dinner was supposed to be ready so i decided to finish unpacking. i tell myself why bother unpacking when i might be leaving in about a month.

"Emily dinner." i hear someone yell from downstairs. i put down one of the books i decide to read and head down and made my way to the kitchen/dinning room.

"so how are you liking your room?" Mr Logan asked as i sat across from him and next to Nathaniel. i smiled.

"its great thanks, the other foster houses never really offered me a room of my own like that." i replied and he nodded.

"well i am glad your enjoying your stay so far." he said with a smile and i nodded. Mrs Logan had walked in and placed plates of spaghetti in front of us.

"so Emily we have arranged for you to attend Lincoln High School, which is walking distance right down the street." Mrs Logan said after minutes of silently eating. "and the foster department called saying that 3 months from now you will have to arrange a meeting with them to discuss how your stay has been and if you like it enough you can stay longer." i nodded stuffing my mouth. this isn't new, i hear the same sentence every foster house.

after a while of them getting to know me better, they had let me and Nathaniel be excused while they get dessert ready.

"hey Emily can i show you something?" he said as we walked into the living room. i nodded and he lead me upstairs and into my room. i gave him a confused look and he walked over to the window. "i used to always come up here." he said climbing onto the roof. i followed him. he help me up and sat down i sat down next to him.

"and you brought me here because." i said.

"well just in case you need somewhere to go... think" he replied unsure if that was the right thing to say. "you have been through a lot, so i thought maybe you would like to some out here and look up at the stars." he gazed up and i did the same. it was really pretty at night. "the stars always calm me down." i smiled

"well i appreciate you showing me this" i smiled

"not a problem... after all you are me foster sister." he smiled. he is reacting to the whole foster system differently than i thought. everyone else was ashamed to be seen with me or completely ignored me.

"so do you go to Lincoln or have you graduated?" i asked breaking the silence that has over took us.

"yea I'm a senior and will graduate next month." he replied and i nodded. "what grade are you supposed to be in?"

"im a junior, but i wont be surprised if i flunk this year" i said bringing my knees to my chest.

"what do you mean." he asked

"well three going on four foster homes this year so i am behind big time by moving from school to school." i say and he nods. after another while of talking we went in and grabbed a snack before heading off to bed. tomorrow i sat a new day in a new school was my last thought before falling asleep.
