A couple of weeks later, they are ready to return to London.
Through an agent, they rent a medium-sized two story house in Cheapside Street. Their neighbours are wealthy merchants, and the surroundings are very busy, even at night. There will never be a problem to find people to feed on.
They move in without a fuss. The agent helps them recruit a few servants, all with a reputation of knowing how to keep their mouth shut about the private lives of their patrons. Everything is going smoothly, and in no time they find themselves living in the house as if they had been there for months of years. Falling into a routine is surprisingly easy.
Bible is recovering little flashes of memories, like shreds of fog, they come to his mind, but it's all blurred. Sometimes it's just the memory of a sensation, or a scent. When that happens, he stops what he's doing and stays still for a few seconds or minutes, as if daydreaming, concentrated in grasping the thought.
Some mornings, before going to sleep, Jeff shares with Bible images of their past. Bible loves to watch Jeff's memories playing in his head, vaguely familiar. He sees himself through Jeff's eyes and feels his emotions. "Bible, you lucky bastard," he thinks to himself. He doesn't know what his old self did to deserve all this love and attention from Jeff.

One evening, just over a week after they settled in, Anthony appears at their door. They keep him waiting for a few minutes while they tidy each other up, trying to look their best. They exchange a long, slightly nervous look before coming down.
The moment they've been waiting for since they set off from Oxford has finally arrived.
Anthony has taken the initiative to confront Bible and Jeff in an impulse, as soon as he recognised them in the description given by one of his subordinates. He needs to confirm it's really them.
He is intrigued. Why are they not scared of crossing his path again? Why is Bible still following Jeff after losing his memory?
He wants to show them who are they dealing with and try to control Bible in front of Jeff. That will be the ultimate humiliation. He wasn't able to give him the full dose of pills, but it might still be enough to numb his senses. Surely he can make Bible obey him and bring Jeff down a peg or two. Jeff, who dared to take Bible from his grasp.

Anthony is still deep in thought when a noise makes him raise his eyes, in time to watch the couple come into the parlour. There's a mocking smirk on Jeff's lips that instantly puts Anthony in a bad mood.
Jeff is all intricate lace and small bows, and lustrous long black hair over grey, almost silver satin. Bible is a vision of fair, translucent skin dressed in black velvet with golden details. The breeches he's wearing, just under the knee, fit snuggly his muscled thighs and buttocks.
"They are a handsome pair", thinks Anthony, "pity that I am going to destroy them."
Bible freezes, his hand grabbing Jeff's clothes for a moment. A rush of memories just came to his mind, linked sensations of fear and disgust, provoked by the way their visitor was looking at Jeff.
- Sorry we couldn't say our goodbyes last time we were at your club, Anthony, we were in a hurry - starts saying Jeff, the half smile never leaving his mouth.
- Don't worry at all, I understand the young gentleman, Bible, was not feeling well... I hope he's fully recovered now - says Anthony, playing the game.
- Oh, but I wasn't really unwell... I was just a bit sleepy because I had too much to drink. Nothing that a good day sleep can't fix - says Bible, looking straight into Anthony's eyes.
