- May's Pov -

"Oh my god May you're amazing." Chris says as we walk out of the court room.

I smile at his enthusiasm.

"Thanks, but it's not over. The jury still has to come up with a verdict." I explain.

"How long do you think that will take?" He asks.

"Well, we had a lot of evidence in our favor so hopefully we'll have it today. Go get some lunch and we can talk after."

He nods before walking away.

I can't help but laugh a little, he's so stupid but yet we might just win this.

"Well that was one hell of a trial." I hear the voice from behind me causing me to turn around.

"James? What are you doing here!?!?" I jump into my brothers arms with a loving embrace.

He hugs me back tightly, expressing just how much we missed each other.

"I was in town on some business and heard about your case. If you ask me you definitely won." He says.

"Thank you but in all honesty I did nothing. That footage did all the work for me." I laugh.

"Well as an early celebration how about I treat you to some lunch?" He says with a warm smile.

"I'd love that."

We both make our way out of the court house and down the street to a small Italian restaurant.

After we take our seats, we order and as the waitress leaves I can't help but look at him with a smile.

I've missed him so much.

"So, how are things with you?" He asks.

"Well, as you know my firm is doing really good. I recently had a minor surgery due to some complications with my condition but other than that I feel good." I say.

"A surgery? May, I trust you but are you sure everything's okay?" The concern in his voice is normal.

He's always been my number one supporter but also my number one worrier. My father makes it hard for us to see each other but he's always there no matter what.

"Well, honestly I've been having more frequent episodes. But right now all I can do is hope the transplant center gets me a donor in time..."

His hand comes up on the table to rest on mine.

"You're the strongest person I know May, you've got this." He says.

"Well, other than that. Anyone new in your life? A special someone maybe..." the smile on his lips makes it impossible for one not to form on mine.

"Actually... there is someone. She's a doctor, and my roommate." James has known about my sexuality before I did.

And him also being gay means he knows the struggles of living with our father.

"No way, that's awesome. You deserve someone special, I'm glad you've found her." The look in his eyes is so genuine it takes me off guard.
