Haru floated in the water, the liquid surrounding his body as he drifted in the sunlight. His eyes watched the tree limbs sway in the spring wind, muffled sounds of footsteps indicated that someone was coming. He closed his eyes and sunk down into the water, his bare feet touching the bottom of the pool. He slowly surfaced, opening his eyes to see the fellow members of the Iwatobi High School Swim Club. Makato pushed his hair back and placed a hand on his hip.

"Haru what are you doing in the water? Spring just started." He chuckled at his friend, knowing his excessive love for water. Gou giggled along with him.

"It's too cold to be getting in the water!" She reminded him, pointing over to a homemade day countdown. "We have approximately twenty-six days until we start practice in the water, that's also twenty-six days to recruit a new member so our team will be official!" She stressed, sighing. Nagisa pulled on her blazer sleeve.

"I'm trying my best to get Rei to join! He's perfect you know?" He smiled brightly, talking to no one in particular. "He has a girly name just like all of us!" Haru rolled his eyes and sunk back into the cool water, feeling it envelope him. Nagisa looked over at Gou. "Well...we all have girly names except Gou." Gou's face turned to a deep shade of red. She crossed her arms, pulling Naigisa off her jacket. She cleared her throat.

"I told you to call me Kou!!!" She screeched, even underwater Haru could faintly hear her tantrum along with a couple of chuckles and retorts. Haru blew some bubbles from his nose before coming up, needing air. He looked over at Gou, her angry expression reminding him so much of Rin. His eyes widened.

Rin... Thoughts and memories that Rin and Haru had spent together scraped across the inside of his skull, blurring his mind. He felt his heart throb. His eyes twitched as he got out of the pool, water running down his leg. The trio stopped arguing and looked over at him. Haru looked up at them, trying to conceal how uncomfortable he was.

"Could someone grab me a towel?" He asked nonchalantly. Gou sent him a weird look.

"Since our swimming practice hasn't officially started I haven't brought out the towels and gear yet!" She huffed at him, pointing over to the sign. Haru continued to stare at her, not responding. She finally rolled her eyes. "I guess I can go into the school's office supply closet and get a few that I stored for our meets." She gave in, seeing Haru in his dripping wet state. Nagisa lifted his head up and gave Haru a heart-warming smile.

"I'll help too!" He piped in. He ran after Gou, teasing and walking along with her. Makoto looked over at Haru.

"Are you alright?" He asked, leaning forward, trying to catch Haru's gaze. Haru glanced over at his friend.

"I'm fine, why do you ask?" He retorted with a question. Makoto chuckled.

"You've been out of it for a while, Haru." He responded, "This isn't like you." Haru sighed.

"I've been thinking about a lot lately." He said, trying to keep his real reason vague. Makoto nodded.

"You should empty your head." He suggested, "Go take a nice long bath! That always cheers you up." He smiled at Haru. The two continued to talk until Nagisa and Gou came back with a towel for Haru.

Haru soon left, after drying himself off, to change. The sounds of his friends chatting were muffled as he closed the door to the men's locker room. He sighed, rubbing his damp hair with the towel. He looked over to the side, seeing himself in the mirror. He stared at his reflection for a second before turning around and getting dressed. Makoto was right, he needed to clear his thoughts and ease his mind.
