Chapter 3: Even Stranger Behaviour!

The familiar scents wafted around BlindPaw as he followed BouncePaw's tail into camp. He lifted his nose into the air for a few seconds to take in the scents. Freshwater...milky...prey...and a...feathery scent? That was new.

He sniffed again, that scent wafted from SkyKit! Well, that certainly fits her name then. He thought for a few moments, before snapping out of it and focusing on following BouncePaw. The familiar camp map was engraved in his mind as he started to listen to his surroundings.

He trotted confidently through the camp, BouncePaw's tail still on his shoulder and SkyKit hurrying to stay under BlindPaw's legs while BlindPaw sensed her prancing with confidence ane with a joyus mood as they treaded through camp

As they did, he felt the stares of his clanmates on him, making him shrink a bit. He's always hated their stares. He continued for a few moments before he felt a glare seeping into his back, making him bristle. Anger wafted from behind him as well, enough to make his head throb again.

He hurried on faster, almost stepping on BouncePaw's paws. He sensed BouncePaw snap his head around and a flicker of anger entered his mind. "Hey! Watch it!" he warned. BlindPaw pinned his ears against his head, and continued more slowly. "Sorr-ee..." he muttered finally.

He felt BouncePaw's mood soften again, and then they stopped. The air swished around BlindPaw's ears, and his tail flicked. "Wait here, I'll get him." BouncePaw mewed, piercing fear for BlindPaw shot through BouncePaw's mind suddenly, and BlindPaw let out a groan of pain as his head throbbed harder. But when he tried to sense BouncePaw, he had already slipped into the warriors den.

He felt SkyKit tense against his leg, and sense her swift movements to hide behind his leg. SkyKit never acted this way before- well for as long as I've known her... He thought with another frown, flicking his ear again. He suddenly heard the crunching of leaves, more than possible for one cat behind him.

He stretched his senses to their limits, and he sensed three kit's and a Queen, and soon their scents came afterwards. A milky scent that usually came with a queen, unlike MilkWeed who was a medicine cat. And the three kits had a leafy smell.

Before BlindPaw could realize it, the Queen had stepped in front of him, and the four kits barreled into his legs. BlindPaw's heart beat a little faster as the Queen's gaze seeped into his blind eyes.

"I see you've found SkyKit..." he sensed the queen lash her tail. "I've been looking for her in the medicine den, but MilkWeed said you and BouncePaw took SkyKit to see.." the Queen paused. "BraveFlame..." The Queen slightly growled his father's name.

Why did she say his name like that? Everybody in ShadowClan loved BraveFlame! He was the best warrior ShadowClan had ever seen...why hate him now? BlindPaw thought nervously. He suddenly realized this queen was Hare'sShadow! And she had brought PearKit, SlateKit, and GeckoKit!

BlindPaw let out the breath he was holding. "I mean...you can take SkyKit if you'd like..." he murmured. He sensed the four kits, PearKit, SlateKit, SkyKit and GeckoKit playing between his legs with squashes and crunches he could hear their tiny hearbeats, their muscles flexing in report to their playing, their giggles and squeals...BlindPaw felt at peace, before he felt the Queen's intense mood again, and snapped away from the kits quickly.

He sensed SkyKit stop suddenly. "I want to stay with BlindPaw!" she mewed firmly, he sensed her gaze pinned on Hare'sShadow. Hare'sShadow's mood changed to nervousness. "are you sure?" she mewed, a tint of nervousness in her voice. BlindPaw's eyes flickered with surprise.

"I'm sure.." SkyKit replied, her mood changed to abit of uncertainty with a tint of fear. I wonder why she's so afraid, its just BraveFlame. He thought with a shudder, trying to ignore all of the horribly possible thoughts of what happened to BraveFlame, that horrible memory echoing in his mind.
